Where has Whisperfoot Gone Off To?

This is one of the most out-in-the-open drama queen posts I've EVER seen. Congrats on shamlelessly and openly being one - that takes balls (or delusion, one of the 2). However, here's some tough love. All this reads like to me is that "When I started here, and posted for years to the...

Why the hate for anime? (Y da hat 4 anime?)

Mog - I'm sure that is at least a contributory element to it. Takyris - fascinating theory. I don't have enough exposure to anime fans to conclude whether it's a valid theory or not, but it is awfully insightful nonetheless. I will look for this in the future.

Why the hate for anime? (Y da hat 4 anime?)

A couple things: 1) I'm surprised when younger Anime fans don't know about the classics. How can they be 'into' the newer (mostly wretched) anime and never have heard of Ninja Scroll, Project A-Ko, Akira, etc? It seems that most of the recommended titles in this thread are older titles. I'm...

    Starship Troopers 2

Well, hate to break it to you, but when the movie came out, almost noone 'got' it. Don't you remember thew reviews when it came out? Most of them didn't mention the themes that are commonly brought up when discussing the film now. So it must have been subtle enough to take almost 10 years for...

    The ultimate cheesy movie marathon

Just to address the elephant in the room: How is cheesy 'defined', or being used, here? Because seeing Evil Dead, Big Trouble in Little China, and Kentucky Fried Movie in this list of "cheesy movies" suggests to me that people have a WIDE variety of definitions of the term.

    Player Problem, need advice

likuidice, you have my sympathy. The way I read it, you're in a group of players and DM that don't care about the gaming side of D&D. They don't enjoy cranking thru rulebooks and selecting the best alternatives, and making an effective combat character. They seem to get all they need out of...

    Rate Van Helsing

hmm. OK. I'll delve back here for a quick reply (this is all of course IMO): Alien is not an action monster movie. It's a horror movie that uses a sci-fi villain. Aliens is closer to a good example. Except it is more like a war movie to me, the same as Starship Troopers & Independance Day...

I'm freaking out! (in a good way!)

Yep - QR and DT kicks the crap out of DT and Yes, IMO. DT are simply the best around. QR really seemed to be influenced in a positive way by touring with DT. QR performed much better last year than they had in probably a decade. Yes just seems like a shell of what it was historically.

    Player Problem, need advice

I'll be nice. As I read it, your and your player's problem with this guy is that he knows the rules, likes the rules, and makes characters that are effective in combat. More effective than the other players characters. It sounds more like you guys are jealous of his ability to make powerful...

Hayden Christiansen being added to Return of the Jedi DVD

I always felt that the casting choice for old Anakin was terrible. If they excised that egg-head loser from appearing in Darth Vader's armor, I wouldn't put up any protests.

umm... didn't the Mummy Returns have one of the most laughed-at "cartoon characters" of all time involved in the final fight? (the Scorpion-man) P.S. you make the attacks too easy. :p

Axelos - thanks for putting that clear as day. We totally missed the Gabriel reference. That is so VERY cool.

    Van Helsing

Now I'm REALLY curious - why do you expect to see a book-based version of Mr. Hyde in the movie Van Helsing? (I'm seriously interested in your answer/opinion on this question) And I'm guessing you meant to say "fad" - if so, I'm a big fan of the "hulking monster" "fad." :heh:

    Van Helsing

Nice to see someone dictating their intepretation of Mr. Hyde and foisting it on everyone as a "mistake" of the movie. (edit - where the heck did the rolleyes smilie go??) :( It's kind of hard to make CGI for the characters and creatures they chose to use to be "seemless". How you're...

    Van Helsing

Van Helsing rocks on toast. I've seen a couple bad "reviews", and they really are hardly reviews. What review would think it's a revelation to tell you the movie "is cheesy, badly-acted CGI-filled, popcorn movie with no depth"? Well... DUH. Why do they think so many people are standing in...

    Rate Van Helsing

Simple explanatoin: Some people are fans of the genre, and have actually SEEN the movie, while others aren't or haven't. I gave it an 8, ALMOST a 9. It's hard to think of a much better action monster movie.

I have seen complete dreg on TV and it is the (fill in the TV show here)--Better now?

Just so some board members don't misunderstand the Variety Hour: That thing was big- it had the support of many celebrities, and any show where the MUPPETS appear on is what I would consider an "acceptable" show, or a show that has pull. BTW: it looks to have done quite well. I think that...
