    D&D 5E (2014) Let's Have A Thread of Veteran GM Advice

Even if you only ever want to run D&D, play or even run different RPGs from time to time, they can teach you stuff about pacing, give you new mechanics and ideas you can bring back to your D&D game.

D&D General Explain Bounded Accuracy to Me (As if I Was Five)

It does in a way. With bounded accuracy, and a flatter progression, hobgoblins can remain a threat for longer. So can still appear at higher levels because they still have some chance to hit. Without it they quickly move to a point in the maths where they need a 20 to hit and so don't really...

D&D General Explain Bounded Accuracy to Me (As if I Was Five)

Not sure that's the main reason, it is more so by gaming the bonuses you get you don't make things impossible. For example in 3rd Ed you could by combining various bonuses to AC for example (High Armour AC, natural armor bonus, Deflection bonus, dodge bonus, sacred bonus, moral bonus, dexterity...

NASA Releases The Lost Universe TTRPG Adventure

"Although the players will have many paths to explore, they will end up outside the city regardless." Choo-choo. :ROFLMAO:

    D&D General I hate five-foot passages!

True but if you are a creature that needs to squeeze to fit in a 5ft corridor, you can bet you would design your home wider than that. Also D&D is a tactical game, a 5ft corridor means only the front character is involved most of the time, which is pretty boring.

Did the Ads Recently Change on this Site (New Pop Ups)

I really hope they are raking in the extra ad revenue from the banner and the video, as they are seriously annoying.

How long should a gaming session be?

I say four hours, but that's because it's how long I set aside (typical convention slot length as well). But in reality perhaps about 3 hours is ever spent actually playing, what with get stuff out, setting up, chatting about your week, latest Netflix series, having a mid session break, packing...

    Is TTRPGing an "Expensive Hobby"

You get into minis and 3D printed terrain, there is no upper limit.

D&D General "I'm glad to be back playing D&D."

That tends to happen if you don't feed them the clues, if you are using a published scenario (particularly older ones), or are inexperienced running, you can put clues behind successful skill checks. Which means if players miss them, they end up at dead ends with no leads and no clue to what to...

If You Need a Cane, Buy One of These

You should look up cane fighting techniques, I saw a demonstration at the Royal Armouries in Leeds once, very enlightening.

If You Need a Cane, Buy One of These

"Tactical" is that just because it is painted black? It doesn't seem to conceal a firearm or even a sword. It doesn't even have straps and those plastic clips you get with "Tactical" stuff, and where's the urban camo pattern?

D&D General You are given the reigns: what do you do?

4th Edition - Pretty much as is after Monster HP were adjusted and just slap as "Tactics!" sicker under the D&D logo. I'm lazy. Little Extra effort - also release the Heroes of Battle book (originally for 3.5 updated to 4E). Even more effort - update the Birthright setting to 4E, I'd leave in...

Why PCs should be competent, or "I got a lot of past in my past"

Might I suggest you play something other than D&D? There are plenty of RPGs that characters start as more competent characters and don't develop as significantly. There certainly isn't a need to change D&D from what has been a successful formula for it for decades, it seems a daft problem to...

    Spoilers The Marvels (Spoilers)

I suspect I know the one you mean, and if they had made that into the big Bollywood style production with Ms Marvel getting involved I would have been completely down with it. As it would have fitted the style they established for her in the TV series, you know like how we accept Deadpool knows...

    Spoilers The Marvels (Spoilers)

Why see it in theatres when I can watch it on Disney+ in a few months? In fact Disney+ has conditioned me to watch Marvel on a small screen with all their TV series.

    Spoilers The Marvels (Spoilers)

Yeah it definitely a timing issue The Marvels Movie only came out in the cinema in in November last year, Secret Invasion was June 2023. But the Marvels was original schedules for July 2022. So imagine a lot of the script was finalised before Secret Invasion's. Still I'm not sure Asgard would...

    Spoilers The Marvels (Spoilers)

Kamala Khan was easily the best thing in it, her Disney series was probably the best since Scarlet Witch's. I look forward to seeing more of her in the MCU.
