Hm, we could mass-move the threads (maybe one at a time, for extra safety), but that particular function has no copy option AFAIK. (I can't use the normal move function because I can't open the threads or the forum they're in.) Now, it should be safe; we haven't lost a thread to a failed move...

A search in the mod control panel indicates that there are 446 users with 'night' in their name. (This figure of course includes all with 'knight.') There are also 50 users with 'nite' in their name, but most of these seem not to be misspellings of 'night.'

In a post I made in the mod forum on the 8th of June, I pointed out that OVER NINE THOUSAAAND (9,764) new accounts had been registered this year so far. Something like 9.5k in 5 months (Jan-May): ca. 1.9k per month Around 12k in 6 months (Jun-Nov): ca. 2k per month So yeah, I can believe the 12k.
