Weird so with the sorcerer variant they know spells before they can actually cast them. What use is that?

Maybe when I start my next campaign I'll switch over but at the moment my players are happy with the Rangers and Sorcerers they have so I'm not going to swap mid-game as they are both 6th level now.

I think if you find you need to fudge the dice more often than not then they game mechanics are broken. Since 3rd Edition I have never fudged dice rolls but I have fudged hit points on a main NPC once, as it wouldn't have been at all dramatic for him to fall before he got a single action. So...
