Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Looking at the Backerkit page, looks like they will include the Wraith Overlord supplement for the books, which is good. I ran that adventure several times. Now I'd give this about a 50-50 chance of actually happening, so it will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

This exactly! It's a longer term resource that you track and gradually expend throughout the adventuing day. It's also something the DM can use to show how a situation drains the party's ability to keep going. The idea in 4E was pretty much that you'd always go into combat at full HP, but you'd...

D&D 5E (2024) If Your Builds Not Online By Level 6 Dont Bother?

A lot of this depends on the level you start at and how often you're going to level up. If you think about it, the "how soon does your build come online?" is compatible with early editions of the game. As someone who played OE/1E/BECMI wizards, they didn't come on line in many ways until later...

On This May The 4th, Let's Celebrate Star Wars TTRPGs. +

It's unofficial, but I recently played Scum and Villany, the Forged in the Dark "Star Wars with the serial numbers filed off" game. Had a blast! Essentially this is a Han Solo smuggling game where each session is a score. We had a group where I was the only one familiar with the system...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I think this is such as important point for people like me to listen to. I am very much the kind of GM who will ask questions like you hate while running a game. And I've run enough games so I have encountered many players like you who don't like this. And as a GM and a designer you need to take...

D&D 5E (2024) OAR 10 City State of the Invincible Overlord

I was one of those people. I 100% love this project and don't want to derail discussion of this new project, but depending on how the rights were acquired, there are some people who would likely want a refund from the other project. Which, to be clear, has nothing to do with Goodman games...

D&D 5E (2024) OAR 10 City State of the Invincible Overlord

Wow! I remember having the original back in the day and using it like crazy. Now do Wraith Overlord next! Let me just add that I would pay a lot of money to have this map done for my VTT. And I'm sure it would have to be a lot because that would be extremely difficult to do. But something that...

I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

As we're getting closer and closer to the final release (and as I write this, it really is released to some customers) I really do wonder what genres of games Daggerheart will be best at. From playing the beta it has a strong focus on action adventure scenes, and there's a definite attempt to...

D&D 5E (2014) Hypothetical: WotC goes under and Hasbro vaults D&D. Now What?

Good question! I think this would begin a slow death spiral for the game in a larger context. Of course, it wouldn't affect anyone's games, but it would have a tremendous effect on new people entering the hobby. Like it or not, D&D is synonymous with "RPGs" to the larger audience. Just like...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

It's been my experience that this is the core issue behind most of our heated discussions, on EnWorld and really in general. Unless you can define terms you're arguing past each other. People can realistically disagree and everyone involved can be correct, depending on how terms are defined. And...

D&D 4E What AI thinks about 4th Edition

I think this is part of the knowledge that was lost after 4th edition. In 3X, there were big differences in saves, but you could at least mitigate them somewhat. 4E addressed this problem with weaker saves, where you would have differences, and yet they would be tighter. 5E ... if you don't get...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

I think this is the key. I bought the 5.5E PHB for my VTT, but haven't gotten the other two books because my group and I just aren't feeling it. And I really see the desire to complain and attempt to get WotC to change. I want things to be different. But then I realize that would be pointless...

    Draw Steel the MCDM RPG!

I had the same debate. I backed MCDM and passed on Daggerheart. My group did a playtest game of Daggerheart and found it wasn't for us. I can't wait to do the same with this one. I think it was a tough call as to who to back, but I will likely end up with both in PDF.

I will never stop laughing at "I'm a monster! Grr!" for gnomes.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 - Do magic weapons bypass resistance now?

That is a change in 5.5E. For me, it makes basic magic weapons even less interesting.

    Draw Steel the MCDM RPG!

I haven't heard anything. I expect Matt will be having the hype train up and running well before that happens. I still have a copy of the beta rules.

    D&D 5E (2014) Official WotC 5e pdfs

Oh, I know that won't happen. Just thought it was appropriate to say. I have no illusions that WotC will make a change, but there are new people working with the product, perhaps one of them might try and make the sale. I mean, the choice in my case is PDF sales or nothing, and I'm not the only one.

The core three books in PDF are things I'd like to legally purchase.

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

It depends on the system I'm running. I'm currently running a PF2 game and the assumption there is that you will be able to heal to full HP between each combat barring time crunches. I'm running Abomination Vaults, so there are some of those elements, but they are currently at a point where they...

Dragon Delves to Return to Godsbreath, a Journey Through the Radiant Citadel Setting

So the implication is these adventures will be in several world settings and not one overarching campaign. Is that correct?
