Confirmed - Rangers get d8 HD in 3.5e.

I'd have to wait and see how the ranger stacks up to the rogue in 3.5 to judge the ranger. IMHO, however, a good BAB, 6 skill points, spells and bonus special abilities like fighting style and favored enemy sound rather overpowered compared to the rogue As far as this thread goes, I do not...

    big groups

I consider more than 3 players too many for my DMing style. Just not enough time and space for each PC.

    Have you used "signature items"?

I made several signature weapons in my campaigns. One was tailored for a blademaster (a modified Weapon Master): The weapon bonded with a blade master, and for each level in that prestige class the weapon gained a +, either an enhancement bonus, or some equivalent special ability, chosen by the PC.

[DM] - To Sunder, or not to Sunder? (Break, Destroy, Steal the PC's gear?)

IMC, signature magic items, f.e. a sword that the fighter is and has been questing for, collecting part after part in a race against an evil undead mage, won't get permanently destroyed or taken away. Same goes for mundane items with an important history for the PC. Anything else is fair game...

    'Official' half-drow??

Races of Faerun has the Half-Drow in it as well.

    TYRANT DOMAIN: Balanced?

I'd check up on the slaver prestige class in the Kingdoms of Kalamar Player's Guide for possible domain powers.

Dungeon magazine says maybe more vile. Huzzah!

I don't want "vile" stuff. I want mature stuff. The BoVD was a big disappointment for me - most stuff inside was just partly gross crunch. I want adventures where the plot does not center around some cheesy 2-d villain and his loot and guard monsters, which all act according to the comic code...

How many total stat points does your character have?

78 (with 3 stat increases) 81 (with 3 stat increases)

Advice: How to handle a party of mixed levels?

My advice is along the lines of Kahuna Burger's: Just give every PC, no matter his player's attendance, the same amount of exp, so that everyone has the same level. One of my players is currently in the army. Just the fact that he has not been able to attend for close to a year will not "doom"...

    CR, DR and dead heroes...

I will never throw creatures out of the book at my party without first checking what they can do to each other. I carefully tailor my opponents to my PCs' capabilities. In your case, I'd have dropped the DR from the beginning. But then, I don't place much value on "challenging players"...

Which method do you use to determine ability scores?

In one game we just distributed 75 points among all stats, on a one for one basis. In another, more high-powered camopaign we just let the players choose the stats, with the total sum of the modifiers capped at +13 (they total ranges from 10 to 13 in the current party). I would never, ever roll...

Prestidigitation: What is it good for?

In my campaigns prestidigitation is most often used to clean clothes etc. after the party got dirty in an adventure.

Unbalanced: Dodge feat just +1 to ac?

I don't think it would be unbalancing. You could rule that it only works if the character is wearing no (perhaps light armor).

Help with an Archer (How many people gonna ask this? ;))

In races of Faerun is, iirc, a feat that gives you wings if you have celestial or fiendish blood. No need to gamble with the %-chances that way.

    Elves And Levels

IMC, elves just lack the drive of humans. They are an old race, rooted in traditions that date back 1000s of years, and arch-conservative to boot. Not something that leads to quick adaption of new things and ideas. There are exceptions, but most elves just can't keep up with humans when it comes...

    Deploying Golems In The Campaign

I do not often use Golems. In one 2E campaign, the party met an intelligent flesh golem that looked like a teenage girl - an old wizard's replacement for his dead daughter. They had to save the golem from the wizard's heir, who was planning to "dismantle it to find out how it was built"...

    In Your Opinion?

You can pull off multiple DMs in the same world, but even with only 2 DMs and a great deal of coordinating there are problems. I have been DMing with another DM for years that way. I have also seen multiple DMs for the same party both in Earthdawn and in Shadowrun, and it did not work out well...

ECL vs. CR = Experience? A thought on balance

As I said, I don't use the CR system to deal out exp. Why should I? Eyeballing the adventure, especially after it is finished, and then giving out EXP based on the goals achieved is much easier. Easier than this would be to give out exp in a manner that the PCs advance at a rate determined by...

    Please rate Eschew Materials

In some campaigns this feat can be amazingly powerful. In one of my two current campaigns, which is set in a country where arcane casters are considered dangerous heretics, carrying around a spell component pouch is risky, which reduces the available spells for many arcane casters. Eschew...

    Please rate Energy Substitution

IIRC, the bonus from Bloodline of fire only applies to sorcerer spells, not wizard spells. I rate the feat an 8 - very useful and powerful for a sorcerer, but not as useful for a wizard. I did not take the feat for my own fire themed sorceress, instead choosing fire variants of several spells...
