    Really good points there.

    WOTC Business Strategy and miniatures

I don't use miniatures. If I did use miniatures, I would not use a battlemap so that my movement options were not limited to squares. I doubt I will be forced to use minis anytime soon. Some people apparently have problems using AoOs without minis, but I never had any trouble with that - a...

    Compiled 3.5 Revisions

I try to build my NPCs within the rules (and even make a bit of a sport out of building a "monk" with just fighter and rogue levels), if I bother with building them at all. More often I improvise some stats. I don't consider it cheating - as long as the NPC is not breaking the game rules in a...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Perform, Diplomacy

I don't undertsand how anyone can have a problem with knowing too many instruments or performance styles in 3.0 - no one forces you to choose that many styles. If you just want to be able to play a flute really well, don't choose 9 other styles and get those 10 ranks anway.

Does your adventuring group have a name?

One group managed to name itself, even though it took much time and pondering, as "Glory Blades", tough "Gory Blades" worked as well. The current group... well, my bard tries to come up with a name from time to time in one party, and the other is not really a party, but priestess with her...

How common are multi or prestige classed PCs?

One party has 4 Level 12 PCs, 3 of them single classed (1 Bard, 2 fighter), 1 is a paladin with a homebrew-PrC . Another party has 4 Level 14 PCs, of which 1 is a single classed barbarian while the others have home-brew Prestige Classes (1 sorcerer, 2 fighter).

Do you allow feats/PrCs from Dragon or non WotC products

Same here, except that not even core rulebooks get blanket approval - I banned a couple spells, and even classes in certain campaigns.

    [Poll] Who DOESN'T use minis?

Hmm... I have to amend my answer. While I sometimes use countres or dice to represent characters on a map, I have never used a grid in D&D. As in other game groups, we just ask "Can I reach them with a charge/place the spell in a way to get all enemies/pass there without drawing an AoO/etc?"

    3e Character Advancement Too Fast?

I voted too fast, although with the caveat that this was said regarding a rate of 1 level every 4 sessions. IMC we level up when we feel like it. One campaign started back in 2E, and got converted to 3E at level 5. We played weekly until the start of this year, when we switched to bi-weekly...

Maps, Miniatures, Computers,... How do you play?

I use a laptiop for my notes, but I rarely use maps, and never used miniatures so far. (I may begin to use counters though, if only to replace dice on the sketches we sometimes use during battles).

[3.5] Cohorts no longer gobble up party XP

I guess you would be astonished by our campaign, where one PC is the hired guard of another PC and "serves" the PC, and another PC is effectively "owned" by the same PC.

    How unbalancing would this be?

I'd want a private talk with the DM - just me, him and a piece of pipe - should he ever put guns in my D&D game. They kill my fun immediately. I always say: Why not use magic wands with charges instead? Same effect, less problems with reverse-engineering and the industrial revolution.

    How unbalancing would this be?

I don't get it - what is the problem with giving the goblins 20 extra hps? You realize that you could as well have given them a couple class levels, right? 20 additional hitpoints is not that powerful compared to 4 class levels in fighter, rogue or even warrior. I usually use levelled NPCs as...

    Gimble Or Devis?

He can't - his voice drives off harpies, especially if he is drunk.

    Gimble Or Devis?

I'd vote for Krusk before I'd vote for Gimble.

Does your group use a DM Screen?

As a DM I use a screen, mainly to hide my notes and to roll the dice. If I want to roll open, nothing prevents me from doing it, but I made the experioence as a player that I really hate it when I can see the DM's notes - I don't want to involuntarily get a peek of the NPCs etc., so I really...

[3.5] Cohorts no longer gobble up party XP

This whole thread makes me glad I don't use xp or the leadership feat in my games. All that worrying whether or not you get your "fair share" of "the rewards" for the risk... ugh. IMC, there are PCs, and there are NCPs. Players play their PC, everything else - NPC, monster, familiar, bonded...

    Tactics class. Begin now.

Fortunately, I have no problems with my players when it comes to kidnapping - they don't usually fight to the death unless the character concept warrants it, and the players don't go all-out to prevent a kidnapping. Good methods to kidnap PCs include: - Hold person - Poison, especially sleep...

    Converting to 3.5 woes...

I'd only play in such a campaign if a) Everyone was playing a wizard b) wizard was a class limited to NPCs c) I really wanted to play the cohort/henchman/flunky/servant non-spellcaster or d) combat was as rare as a blue moon and the game centered on social encounters, intrigue and political...

Resistance is futile... you will upgrade to 3.5!

First, I preordered the all 3.5 books. I will not going to convert my campaigns though - my players are against it, and the more I knew about the changes, the more I was against it as well. My campaigns are currently running well and everyone has fun, so why change? I got houserules for all my...
