Great idea Szilard... especially bard is a very fluffy class for Gestalt chars. Skills, many nice utility spells and two good saves really boost many otherwise boring classes (like clerics) and add interesting options and fun to otherwise boring classes (like clerics).

Perhaps not. Assuming you have the feats to spend, a dex monk nowadays can take Improved Natural attack and that Bo9S feat that increases your monk level by four for unarmed damage... with both these feats, Weapon Finesse and a real good dex for hitting, you'll do enough damage. It's a waste of...

A feat is pretty expensive and this item is not allowed in every group. -1 to attacks can make a difference, especially at low levels where orcs with their huge strength are dangerous.

Hobgoblin fighters level 4 with tower shields and the two shieldmate feats from the MiniHB, two more fighters with longspears behind them and two or more archers with WS and Rapid Shot... ;) Love those teams. Add one druid for ground control. Bugbear perhaps to keep the casting power in check...

Agreed. DMs can change, but it takes time. Does everyone here remember how long it took him/her to become the DMs we are now? And still I'm making mistakes ... sometimes even bad mistakes. Relax, enjoy the show and give him friendly advice ... feedback rules anyone? - Tell him what he does...

You might simply give them the benefits of the racial paragon class without the HD, BAB, skills and saves. e.g. a +2 to Int, 2 caster levels plus for wizards and some more goodies. Especially at first level, casting 2nd level spells is great while the benefits aren't too unbalancing later...

Compare them to half-ogres: No, they are pretty ok. I would never drop the penalty to Wis though, I like them to have bad Will saving throws.

Seconded. I guess I spent the same amount once more on miniatures.

Not sure if that would be that much better than a scout archer with Greater Manyshot or a scout heading for dervish ;)
