    Some Early D&DI information

I'm really happy to hear about Hybrid support in the CB. Since the release of CB, I've gotten extremely lazy in my character building and haven't really gotten around to doing much with hybrids manually. Awesome. Delaying the update by a week isn't too bad, I suppose. Those that wanted...

    Do Something Awesome

Yep, I couldn't remember where the idea first came from, and I know it has been bandied about for ages. I was just sharing the card I had made up to implement it, with the hopes that others might find it useful.

    Do Something Awesome

Good point about range - I've modified the card. For damage, I'd use page 42, and choose which column to use depending on the 'awesomeness'.

I'll let you know as soon as I try them out this weekend ;)

    Do Something Awesome

Here is a special 'session power' I've made for my group to try and encourage them to break out of the habit of just using their powers every round.

    New WotC D&D DMing Survey

Looks like they are trying to prioritize the components that go into Campaign Tools to me. Sort of a Part II survey after they determined what tool people wanted them to work on. Verys

    Initiative Tracker?

I use two card-sleeves taped to a bent and folded paper-clip that hangs over my DM screen. In the first card-sleeve I put the PC's portrait, and in the second sleeve (the one that faces me behind the screen), I slip in the character data card that gets printed with a Character Builder set of...

Dragon Editorial: Players 1, DMs 1

Looks like the ezines are getting some attention right now. In another thread, Chris Perkins mentions that they are (finally!) looking at removing the dark bar on each page that eats so much ink.

Free Keep on the Shadowfell at Wizards.com

Must agree, this is a good move for getting people involved in the (4e) hobby for absolutely no initial investment. Now, they just need to find a good home for the link on the main page so it doesn't get bumped with the next news item!

    GTS 2009 D&D Seminar - the Rouse discusses D&D

The Rouse, Thanks for the update about the DDI tools. I'm excited to see any details about the Campaign Tools (I know I know, patience!). I'm one of the ones that ranked something the CT higher then VTT, so I'm not disappointed. As a stop-gap for the Character Visualizer, how about offering...

What should a seasoned 3.5e DM expect from their first 4e session?

I'll agree with the above posters, and add OAs Opportunity Attacks only occur on two occasions 1) when a enemy moves out of a threatened square (usually adjacent) 2) when an enemy uses a ranged or area attack while in a threatened square It still catches some of my old 3.5 players. - Standing...

Character Builder and Compendium Update Announcement April 28th

Adding a glossary to the Compendium will be excellent, and makes it even better as an 'at-the-table' tool. It is clear WotC is listening to user requests here. I appreciate that WotC is still devoting resources to polishing the Character Builder, on top of adding all the new material released...

    PH3 Playtest Race: Wilden

I think James Wyatt is a Far Realm nut (see his campaign notes in Dungeon), and I see his thumb print clearly in the fluff here (though I don't know how much of a hand he actually had in its design). Not that I mind! As for the race itself, it fills a niche that other races don't quiet cover -...

    First New Monster Minis Previewd

I'm happy about their new distribution model - some visible, and not as many figures/set. I'm also glad to see monsters and PCs split into two lines. Its great that they are considering the needs of the RPG crowd when deciding which figures are common, and which are uncommon or rare. These...

Did you take the DDI Survey?

Yep, took the survey and the results line up with how I answered the questions. It is very nice to see the results (at least some of them) posted for everyone to see. I thought they would keep them private, but I'm happy to be wrong.

    DDI Survey Results posted

As a DM with two existing groups, the VTT was never high on my list when it came to DDI tools. The relative value of the VTT is directly related to your current gaming situation. What I didn't want to see happen was to have the VTT added and my DDI subscription raised with no opt-out option...

Tricks to make your RPG experience better!

Here is a tip I got from one of my players (thanks Bill!) for speeding up mapping. Photocopy or print out an extra copy of your dungeon map, and then cut out the individual rooms. As the party explores, hand them the piece for the room they just found. Use a loose-leaf sticky backed photo...

    PHB2: Meh.

Got to throw the players a bone - DMs have been getting all the books lately: Draconomicon, Open Grave, most of Manual of the Planes, and a fair chunk of Dragon and all of Dungeon. I'm a huge fan of the organization of 4e so far. Players material in players books, DM material in DM books...
