Yep, I couldn't remember where the idea first came from, and I know it has been bandied about for ages. I was just sharing the card I had made up to implement it, with the hopes that others might find it useful.

Good point about range - I've modified the card. For damage, I'd use page 42, and choose which column to use depending on the 'awesomeness'.

Must agree, this is a good move for getting people involved in the (4e) hobby for absolutely no initial investment. Now, they just need to find a good home for the link on the main page so it doesn't get bumped with the next news item!
