Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

I'm a huge fan of Critical Role. I've seen just about every episode, many of them 2-3 times. My home campaign is set in an adapted version of Exandria. As I type this, I'm wearing CR socks from their Canadian online store (super comfy!). So don't take any criticisms as coming from a negative...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

That final trailer gave me goosebumps. Full disclosure: Fantastic Four is what got me into superhero comics when I was very, very young, and you never forget your first (it's why I will always stan for D&D1e, as well). I have always loved its retro vibe, and this film feels like will celebrate...

WizKids to Release Adult Blue Dragon Figure Based on Dragon Delves

Well, that makes more sense then; the article obviously made a mistake. Wizkids gargantuan, ancient dragons typically sell for much more than $79.99, so that figure is likely in error as well.

Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

I’m wondering if this was an intentional strategy, so that Mercer would be required to constantly explain things for the audience. Because Johnson and to a lesser extent Riegel often struggle with rules but the rest of the cast are usually pretty good. And they’ve not included OBrien in the...

WizKids to Release Adult Blue Dragon Figure Based on Dragon Delves

The sculpt should be basically identical to the render shown above. The painting, on the other hand… Also, the article describes it as an “adult” dragon (ie huge-sized), but the render is clearly showing a gargantuan dragon, with a medium miniature for reference, which should make it an ancient...

    Show your game prep notes

Typically around four hours. Parts of my notes are in outline form, but I also like to write out detailed descriptions of key locations, items, and events so that I don't leave out key details, and because I enjoy writing. I also have likely encounters pre-prepped on DDB, and physical battle...

[James Bond] The next movie directed by Denis Villeneuve

Strange choice. The Bond franchise is in serious need of a revamp, though, so maybe this is what it needs to get with the 21st century, at least in terms of gender dynamics. I'm not that huge a Villeneuve fan, TBH, nor much of a Bond fan, so...shrug.

D&D General Using Notebook LM to Organize Your Campaign

A two component trap that is too long to post here, but what I really like is that it included notes for how each character might approach different elements of the trap, with DCs. It'll still need fine-tuning, but it's a great starting place.

D&D General Using Notebook LM to Organize Your Campaign

Note: this was already brought up in another thread but I can't find it, and having played around with it, I think it deserves it's own thread as this, for me, is becoming a game-changing tool. But I want to give all credit to whoever first posted about using Notebook LM for a campaign on this...

    Spoilers Ironheart spoilers

Straight talk: is it worth watching? The D+ series have been very much a mixed bag, and the initial reviews for this are not good. After making them watch all of Secret Invasion, I have to be more careful about what I inflict on my spouse. Here's my metric: I thought Daredevil was great. I...

Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

The rules definitely encourage that kind of play. Critical Role has really high production values, though, so there’s only so much players can add when the hyper detailed battle maps are already prepared, for example. It kind of feels like an odd situation where CR are not the best at...

    Aging and Gaming

I’m convinced that, aside from sleep, nutrition and exercise, which are baseline needs, there’s nothing better for your brain than learning, playing and especially running social games.

    Show your game prep notes

My “notes” for the next session are upwards of 20 pages, which is typical for big games, and I am jealous and impressed by how efficiently you get it onto one.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rogue-Monk is wicked cool using 2024 rules

Monks are maybe a bit OP with the 2024 chassis, but they sure are super fun to play. They finally feel like a badass fighter from a Hong Kong action film.

D&D General D&D Version of Boardgame Horrified Coming In August

Horrified is the perfect entry-level co-op game - we just played it the other night with a friend who isn't an experienced gamer and she wrapped her head around it within minutes. This seems like a fun variant, and I am interested to see how it works in the d20, so I'll be getting it for sure.

D&D General Your last adventure in photos.

The set-up for the last game was that the party was imprisoned in the hold of their own pirate ship and their cpatain had been kidnapped, with some sort of terrible ceremony to happen at dawn. The evil-doers were led by the BBEG's lieutenant, an orc monk named Redhand. But the party had access...

D&D 5E (2024) Man I hate the organization of the 2024 Monster Manual

I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic but it’s kind of true. As I posted earlier, I only became aware of the issue when I finally got out my physical copy to read on the patio. I’m normally browsing by source and CR, or by type.
