D&D 5E (2024) Man I hate the organization of the 2024 Monster Manual

I've gone back to using the 3E Outsider to handle anything that isn't elemental, fiend or directly celestial. That covers ethereal, astral, slaad from limbo, modrons from Nirvana, etc. Subtypes can be used to differientiate what plane they are from. So, for example a Blue Slaad would be...

D&D 5E (2024) Man I hate the organization of the 2024 Monster Manual

I do wish those cards were all the same size (3" x 5" would have been my preference). That would have made it a lot easier to organize and store.

Yes, I've already seen the video(s). My statement stands. It's still a gimmick.

D&D 5E (2014) Amazon US book sales rank.

This happened with Pathfinder, when 4E stopped making books. The next D&D book isn't until August or September and the 2024/25 core rule books have been out for close to six months. If Daggerheart material continues to top the charts for the next few months - especially when the new D&D book...

D&D 5E (2024) Man I hate the organization of the 2024 Monster Manual

Yep, the Gas Spore is exactly where I expect to find it... Whatever method was going to be used was going to be imperfect. I wish they had stayed with what I was used to.

D&D General Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford Join Darrington Press

I think you're overestimating a gimmick. 4E had cards, and at least two 5E starter sets have had cards in them as well. I didn't buy Daggerheart for the cards, and so far I myself haven't been impressed with their inclusion. I admit I might be in the minority (I have a hate-on for MtG), but...

D&D General Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford Join Darrington Press

I imagine it will be a mix - possibly cross-compatible material. More likely though, I think they're being brought on for oversight and experience. Chris managed Dungeon for many years, and Crawford's been behind keeping the D&D designers churning out stuff. We've seen others who have left...

Level Up (A5E) Level Up: Advanced 5E Post-Mortem

Wonder if things could have been leveled out if the artifact had lost power, self-imploded or otherwise no longer been a threat. Beyond that though, how did the players take to the A5E system itself? Was there enough time to get a feel if the system was working for the group?

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone else surprised they didn't do a Forgotten Realms Feats, Spells, and Circle Casting UA?

I have no idea - I've avoided WotC forums after dealing with Gleemax.

D&D General My newest Dnd artwork! enjoy! (no AI)

They're all very nice - but what's going on with the wagon picture? Is she falling out? Did the orc push her?

Spelljammer Could this mutiny have been handled better?

If I recall correctly, mutineers were sometimes dealt with marooning them on a deserted isle or setting them adrift in a rowboat at sea. Commonly with minimal food or water (or possibly none) and a single musket for an "honorable way out" instead of wasting away. Being hung by the neck from...

Do you remember your first RPG purchase?

My first purchase (not counting my original Christmas gift of the Holmes set) was a used copy of the Moldvay Basic D&D set at the Red Barn in California, around in '83 as I recall. I'd previously seen the set - a friend had a copy, but I wanted my own. I think I paid $6 for it.

D&D General Ear Loops for crowded store gaming advice?

There's a local game convention I go to yearly that is held in a rather small area (50' X 50' at best). The noise factor would give me headaches, so I bought a can of Construction Work style disposable earplugs, and they worked nicely. Could still hear the game I was at, but the general volume...

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone else surprised they didn't do a Forgotten Realms Feats, Spells, and Circle Casting UA?

I think it was more a case it's already locked in that it is going to be in the book, tested or not. Though I think it would have been wise to throw it out beforehand to see if anybody latches onto issues with it, and gauge if how they plan to instigate it matches how it will actually get used...

    D&D 5E (2024) Who has sign language?

Even more so, there's likely to be regional dialects just as with spoken or written languages. Also, I'd like to mention that there's a good chance some trade professions, cults/religions, courtiers or even assassin/thieves guilds that are likely to have some form of a (simple) sign language...

D&D 5E (2014) Battlemaster and Superiority Dice are causing martials to suffer.

That's pretty close to the route I went, though I made it 4 or more, and the extra bit (push, trip, etc.) uses up a bonus action (reduces the chance of spamming and slowing the combat down, for one thing). Battlemasters can do that, or just spend a die if they feel they need for it.

D&D 5E (2014) Battlemaster and Superiority Dice are causing martials to suffer.

I think adding a die on top of the chance for the success of the maneuver is a slippery slope. Akin to granting specialist Wizards a die bonus to the difficulty of saving throws/attacks for spells in their particular specialty (i.e., giving Illusionists a +dX bonus when casting illusions). I'd...

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Thracia is out? I've been waiting to grab that, as I got to play a small portion of it using original D&D rules at a Con a few years back.
