D&D General People make amazing D&D Art

The menten have a large amount of morphability. Given time, they can absorb or create additional limbs as needed, generally having 6-8 (4 arms and 2-4 "legs"). Their limbs don't have bones and are more akin to tentacles.

Wouldn't that just be Ravenloft? ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Quests From The Infinite Staircase

    1. Depends. If the characters are on a quest and have an idea there might be one in the area - or they search, I'd probably throw in some extra description to alert the party to something that might get them to further examine or fiddle with the area until they find or successfully manipulate...

D&D 5E (2014) We should domesticate Rust Monsters

And thus the mining town Hadley's Hope was shortly overrun. Little did the adventuring group know that Rust Monsters, left on their own, would spawn a very hungry Queen...

A couple Menten, my replacements for Mind Flayers in my homebrew.

D&D 5E (2014) We should domesticate Rust Monsters

You can make a cage with wooden pegs instead of nails, or leather strapping or even go with fortified wicker. Geez, now I'm imagining someone carrying a (baby) rust monster around in a wicker baby carriage or a handbag...

D&D 5E (2014) We should domesticate Rust Monsters

I seem to remember an adventure that had bandits dressed in leather armor and using clubs that had a rust monster on a leash. They would threaten to unleash the rust monsters against metal-bearing victims who didn't pay their toll.

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

The D&D team needs to sell something to customers, and they may be looking at prior content and realizing they're not going to get great returns on rehashing 2014 5E content, and new rule content will likely get stale quickly. If they posit to turn to keeping their customers engaged with...

D&D General If I had the D&D/WotC Worldbuider job, I would... (+ thread)

I'd do what the they did back in 3E. Have a campaign world contest, selecting the best submitted world for publishing. I think that would create a lot of hype and wonder over what will be chosen. Along with that, announce that Adventure League play would have an effect on events to grow the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Where to next, WotC?

I would have just really liked if WotC would do a from scratch kitchen-sink campaign world for 5E, just to show everyone they still have that creative juice and aren't just picking the dry bones of the old game.

It's a lost cause at this point.

They're great while they are in motion. It's the ending and aftermath that everyone gets disappointed with.

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

Vecna: Eve of Ruin and Turn of Fortune's Wheel. At the end they both suggest there has been underlying changes to the multiverse that will affect old and new lore, and a undercurrent that big changes are likely coming.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

A lot of D&D is influenced by whatever is popular in science fiction/fantasy. Gary's vision of fantasy was from the 60's and before; my influences are certainly from the 80's and D&D is very much taking on the wardrobe of modern fantasy. Some aspects are anchored by the previous generation...

    D&D General Humanoids...and world demographics

Yo! But when I got to 2nd edition, I started using the "slow advancement" rules. Didn't have much effect on PC choices.

D&D 5E (2024) Wrapping up first 2-20 2024 campaign this week, some of my thoughts

@ECMO3 - any character deaths or is everybody still rocking the characters they started with?

    D&D General Humanoids...and world demographics

I'd say for my homebrew its 75-90% human. Elves, Dwarves and Goblinoids (Goblin, Hobgoblin, Bugbear, Orc, Gnoll) are the next biggest groups, I'd say between 3%-5% each. Lesser humanoids from there would be Animalfolk, Halflings, Lizardfolk, Dragonborn and Gnomes at 1% each or less. Humanoids...
