    Anybody know a little Latin?

I was thinking of Whitehead and Russell's "Principia Mathematica" (Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica) myself. Or "Principia Ethica", an important work in meta-ethics by G.E. Moore. Or even "Principia Discordia" - but that's kinda weird. Latin doesn't decline foreign nouns (IIRC)...

    Anybody know a little Latin?

"Setting" is really the tricky word. Maybe episcenium? Literally the background of a stage. I don't think that Latin has the concept of a game setting. What is their word for where the action of a play is supposed to be taking place? (E.g. As Venice is for the Merchant of Venice, Denmark...

    Daring Outlaw...A Too Powerful?

I suppose the OP doesn't impose multiclassing restrictions. Otherwise there is an XP penalty. Two levels of fighter would get rid of that (and another bonus feat!), but then you don't get 10d6 sneak attack at 20th level. The skills will really start to hurt, too. But I don't know how many...

    Dragon Magazine #341 p82

Is a coup de grace attack an evil act? (i.e., can a paladin make such an attack without falling from grace?) The coup de grace is simply a kind of attack and is neither inherently good nor inherently evil. In some cases, it's the best option against a foe (such as an unconscious but...

    Order of the stick, 436

Wouldn't that mass enlarge person wear off in a few minutes (13, to be exact)? And the mass bear's endurance and mass bull's strength. The potions of heroism would last a bit longer, but they can't hold it all day.

Complete list of flaws, please ?

Surely the sources could be listed, and perhaps the names? I know there was a similar effort to track down all the different WotC published warlock invocations, and that seemed to go smoothly enough.

    That was fast! Thanks Morrus.

Did the system eat my review, or is it sitting in a queue somewhere waiting to be approved?

    Iconic Bestiary: Classics of Fantasy

This is inexpensive collection of versions of monsters found in the Monster Manual but not in the SRD. The monsters fill roughly the same niche as their closed counterparts, but are creatively reimagined, not just rip-offs. Iconic Bestiary: Classics of Fantasy is a nicely laid out and...

Making those neat little text boxes

To get the spacing right, I type out what I want in Notepad, and then put [code] tags around it.

    Radiant Assault [Spell Compendium]

I don't see the discrepancy. If you fail the save you are dazed- if you make the save, you take half damage and are only dazzled.

    Power Characters: where?

A new thread would probably work best. You'd need to provide sufficient details (more than just "a powerful character"). Suggest a level, class, role, and books available. If you have some ideas, then people are more likely to suggest something. For instance: "Help me build an Archer" could...

    Fixing the 10-minute Adventuring day.

Sounds like you are responding to my "shorter days" proposal rather than the "root hog or die" proposal. The latter proposal gives them an xp debt of 2 encounters, but +50% xp for all encounters. At 4 encounters per day they are at the break even point (50% of 4 is 2) and if they go more than...

    Fixing the 10-minute Adventuring day.

First, make sure the combats aren't such that the players have to buffed to the gills to handle them. The players might be resting after each encounter because a second encounter like that one would finish them off. Next, impose a cost for a day's recharge- 150 xp per character level, or...

    Monk Abilities

I don't understand what you mean. Could you give an example? E.g. a 10th level monk normally gets this, but under this proposal might like *this* way, or maybe *that* way?

    [Math] WotC Challenge Ratings

I've been thinking of how particular kinds of modifications affect a creature's CR. For instance, what would it involve if you doubled its hit points? Assuming it is defeated in combat and is defeated by being reduced to exactly -1 hp, then doubling its hit points increases its CR by +1. If...

    Unholy Toughness

I think if it doubles the hit points, it should add +1 CR (or LA). Much less than that- don't worry about it, unless the CR is borderline. Maybe add a penalty somewhere- for a vampire character, have it so that unholy toughness doesn't apply in the daytime, or something.
