As the title says, I'm planning on begin running WotBS for 5e (probably in a couple of months), and I would appreciate any advice on what preparations are recommended for it, especially for the first adventure.

I always thought that war is an appealing background to set and adventure in. It also would work great to explain why the adventurers are together, be it that they are part of an army (setting an enemy city under siege or defending their own) or an elite platoon carrying over dangerous missions...

How much salt do you actually need? I must have poured about 50g of salt (a little less than 2 oz.) and the dice just sunk.

It seems not, according to the video review posted in the other thread. What you can do is spend the coins earned to buy permanent bonus, like +1 damage, and so forth.

The rules are still those of the Adventure Game series. That is, derived from 4e. Doing otherwise would have made the game incompatible with the other in the series.

I agree almost completely with Olaf, and I also felt less excited following the KS this time around. Also, the core set ended up with something like 150+ minis (I'm not counting the bases) against last year's 240+ vampire package. So, yeah, I think all those $50 expansions and optional add-ons...

While I'm very satisfied with the results, I think it was a bit (relatively speaking, of course) disappointing how the 2013 core set measures when compared with the one from the first KS. IMHO the Reaper guys branched a bit too much with the three core expansions, and not having steadier...
