    D&D 5E (2014) (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

Tommi is fast, and he is very aware that his team sometimes castigates him for running off on his own. This time he is running off, and admittedly this time he doesn't really have much of a plan, but he's not on his own, he's going after Lionel, and he's known Lionel Hardcheese for as long as he...

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 2

"Our fight is not with Smolderheart, though our purposes are presently at odds. A battle rages above us. We would take the prisoners, both those imprisoned here and those enslaved.I hope this is acceptable. There has been too much killing today."

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 2

The Colonel stands with Kahru. He does not speak Giant* and so listens as Gimlak negotiates. He will remain respectful and at attention. If he is given a nod from Gimlak, he will say the following: "We intend you and your work no disrespect, and we recognize the impact this has had on your...

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 2

Yes to all. Sorry I'm lagging -- I'm travelling now and time zones are out. Back next week. The Colonel will stay with the Parlay, but yes, we want everyone freed.

    D&D 5E (2024) Warlock -- initial analyses

Good point. EDIT: I think I was thinking in terms of a 1-level dip in multiclassing. if you dip into Warlock, you'll be taking a pact, as these other 2 are undesirable.
  6. Kobold Stew

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 2

The Colonel takes a breath, and (with empty hands, as always), answers the door.

    D&D 5E (2024) Warlock -- initial analyses

I believe that's no longer the case.
  8. Kobold Stew

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 2

The Colonel looks at Doc pulling the brm down over his eyes, and he figures he's spent. "We can hole up here," he says, looking at how defensible the Keeper's quarters might be. They've come in quick, and spending an hour in this basement isn't what the Colonel wants. But he is aware that he...

    D&D 5E (2024) So Class Complexity...

It is a rough guide -- I'm responding to a table that will be 2x3 inches in the book, I imagine. My point is that complexity for character creation does not correlate in terms of complexity round-by-round in combat, and I wish I knew which they intended.
  10. Kobold Stew

    D&D 5E (2014) (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

Tommi chases Lionel, preparing to do a flying tackle of his friend.

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 2

I don't think there's been much treasure per se: individual weapons, yes. but no cash so far? Once the chest is open, the Colonel will want to see if the cells hold prisoners, and if they can be freed.

    D&D 5E (2024) Warlock -- initial analyses

What combinations are you referring to?
  13. Kobold Stew

    D&D 5E (2014) (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

Tommi has expertise in Insight. 1d20+11=27. "Lionel, wait!" Tommi calls after his friend. "What's happened?" Tommi first met Lionel when they were kids. The halfling was a few years older than him, but Tommi was always taller, Lionel used the boy's hight from time to time to get to places he...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.24e New Cleric

I was a big fan of the Arcana cleric too, since that was the only way as a cleric to get an attack cantrip that you rolled to hit and that used your Wisdom. (It's more fun to roll to ht than to make the creature save to avoid damage, for me at least). With the background feats now, Magic...

    D&D 5E (2024) Warlock -- initial analyses

Lots of ways. Here's three: * third level gives you the benefits of a patron -- you can have one before then, but they haven't noticed you yet. You've sold your soul, or whatever, and got the introductory benefits. So you begin adventuring and eventually merit the attention of your patron, who...

    D&D 5E (2024) Warlock -- initial analyses

This is helpful - thanks. Absolutely, if it's a high-level game your damage will lag using True Strike. But I think for most games, especially if you're actually playing through the levels, it's viable. If Blade Pact has the wording you suggest, it would seem an enchanted short bow is a viable...

    D&D General Warlock vs Sorcerer

The Sorcerer is not a generalist, in any way. The Warlock could be -- you can have an advanced companion creature, and/or access to a range of ritual spells; with some armor proficiency. But your spells will be limited, and so it would take work to make this a "generalist" (whatever that term...

    D&D 5E (2014) (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

If we're having a long rest, it makes sense for everyone to go back up to the house. I (as a player) am fine with that, and I don't think anyone would choose to spend 8 hrs here in a sewer when comparative comfort is a 2 minute walk away -- which there is. Tommi obvioulsy isn't thinking in...

    D&D 5E (2024) Warlock -- initial analyses

I actually think the rules might have you covered better than ever before. You can be a celestial warlock, casting True Strike with a bow. You won't get extra attack, but you'll be using your casting stat and (at level 6) adding your charisma twice to the radiant damage of every hit. It could...
