    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

It is. My system involves settling for forfeiting squares being consistent between grid rotations for keeping distances consistent. (It further goes on to say that, as there's a universal grid, it's not just in "how you look at it" - the 5x5 40-orc room is 5x5, yeah, but it's a room, so I'd...

    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

If we assume we can't capriciously redraw buildings (i.e. there's a universal grid) and that, when in doubt, measurements should be conducted by distance, your Figure 2 should look like this, placing your opponents at 14' away (closest 7' increment to 15' away) and 35' away (which is exactly...

...yeah, that makes sense now that I saw the Gamer Lifestyle heading. My bad!

What the heck is up with that preview column? It's one of the longest preview columns I can remember, and despite that it's... more or less a lot of rambling about nothing.

AD&D 1E 1E Fiend Folio monsters in 4E Monster Manual!

I thought Slaadi were out. Ettercaps are in, though.

AD&D 1E 1E Fiend Folio monsters in 4E Monster Manual!

No, Drow were technically in the original AD&D monster manual, but only given a very short blurb. However, you're right in that Drow were much more fleshed out into basically the race that they are today in the Fiend Folio.

He will be blamed if we get Flumphs in the first monster manual. Oh, will he be blamed. ;)

    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

You're being kinda obtuse, and possibly wrong to boot. The first diagram's width barely matters since everything's being conducted on a straight line, and I believe the second diagram is 8 x 8 by any reasonable sense of the word (if they're the diagrams I'm thinking of, and I'm almost sure they...

Is built-in customization bad for sales?

You know, I need to pick up HERO sometime and see how they manage to do that, since they seem to have the same sort of system as Mutants & Masterminds from what I've heard, which would more or less preclude useful splatbooks. I wasn't really referring to GURPS, where yeah, it's point-based, but...

D&D 4E Ranged Cover rules all hosed up in DDM2 (/4E?)

Impossible, actually, because if any line is open it has no cover and if none are there's no line of effect. Obviously, this rule would need to only apply against Large and larger creatures, which would make it more complciated. (Of course, it's not by much, so that's a level of complexity a...

D&D 4E Ranged Cover rules all hosed up in DDM2 (/4E?)

This one is actually pretty independent of character mobility - the character has to be even with the wall or (possibly - the grid's too small for me to check) far north of the dragon to attack it without cover. Even if he was three spaces north and one space west of where he is now, the...

D&D 4E Ranged Cover rules all hosed up in DDM2 (/4E?)

I looked up the 3.5e rule, but it seems rather inconclusive whether it means one square or the corners of every square the target occupies.

D&D 4E Ranged Cover rules all hosed up in DDM2 (/4E?)

All cover (less than "no line of effect") is equal in 3.5e and assumedly so in 4e. I'd have personally chosen the opposite that they did: if you can draw unobstructed lines to all corners of any square a large target presents, it doesn't have cover. Large creatures shouldn't have a much *easier*...

D&D 4E Ranged Cover rules all hosed up in DDM2 (/4E?)

In this situation, where C1 is an archer, C2 is a dragon, and the black squares are walls, C2 has cover from C1? What? That's just plain hosed up. The relevant quote is on DDM2's rulebook, page 30:

    No more cone shaped powers?

You could. Look at the cyan one, basically. You'd need to be standing one square off from the center of the enemy line, rather than lined up with the center of it, oddly enough, but that's an artifact of this cone template radiating from corners rather than from the center of your position.

Game rules are not the physics of the game world

Well, of course - I know that out of character, and would prefer to know that in-character as well... but in some styles of play, I'm obliged to act as if I was threatened if an angry peasant girl pulls a knife on me while I'm unarmed and unarmored, or if some loser has a hand crossbow pointed...

    D&D 3.x Are you done with 3e?

Oh, yeah. I wasn't counting derivatives either - I'm the absolute opposite of done with Mutants & Masterminds.

    D&D 3.x Are you done with 3e?

Yup, I'm pretty much entirely done with 3e, unless a sudden opportunity for a really good 3e game presents itself. Over the last year or so, the buildup of carried-over "yuck" in D&D's become more and more apparent to me, from the amazing disparity between fluff and crunch in the D&D cosmology...
