    D&D 5E (2014) Orion Black No Longer a D&D Designer [UPDATED!]

This is very disappointing to hear about. I love 5e. I love the spark of creativity it has inspired within the wider D&D community. But to hear about someone being a mere “token diversity hiring”... That is disheartening for me. I would have thought that after everything with Zak, the...

D&D General The child stealing food to survive scenario, for alignment

If I was playing at a table where alignment was used, and it was my character in this situation... LG & NG: catch the kid, make him give the loaf back, then give the kid some gold to buy himself some food. Get the kid a job if the PC is feeling especially charitable. CG: let the kid get away...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best 5E Sci-Fi Resources

Blades and Blasters by Seth Tomlinson. The Chronomancer’s Guide to the Future by Haggard’s Table Both are for 5e. They’re really good.

D&D 5E (2014) Does your group use inspiration? If not, why not?

Umm... I sort of forget it exists... so, I um, don’t use it.

D&D General So what colour are your dwarfs and elfs?

In the Dark Sun-in-all-but-name campaign I ran last year the Mul Bard had a brick-red skin tone and the Elf Druid had a pale gray skin tone. There was also at least one group of dwarves with a metallic brass skin tone, and an elf tribe with bright blue skin and purple-pink hair... EDIT Forgot...

D&D General The Importance of Page 33

For me, it all depends on the “elevator pitch” at session 0. If the initial presentation of the campaign depicts a world that has a very specific theme and feel to it, and the DM announces which PC races and classes they believe are thematically appropriate for their world... then yes, I will...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon+ issue 32

There is nothing more frustrating than having to click “read more” 5 separate times before the stupid webpage remembers to include the “swipe for the next page” button... But now that it’s actually letting me read the issue, omigosh! Angajuk is adorable!

D&D 5E (2014) WotC Confirms Horror-themed Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden

Tomb of Annihilation is more like Tomb of Horrors meets Dwellers of the Forbidden City meets Isle of Dread.

D&D 5E (2014) WotC Confirms Horror-themed Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden

This looks awesome! Bring on the Arctic counterpart to ToA’s Tropical Jungle and BG: DiA’s... well, Avernus. Really like the artwork too. Seriously, 5e’s art department keeps getting better and better imo.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Minds of Monsters

HUMANOIDS In my games, humanoids might think and prioritize things differently, but it’s really no different from comparing a neurotypical person to someone who isn’t. Generally speaking, humanoids can experience the full range and extent of what we might call human emotion. The exception to...

    D&D 5E (2014) New and Different Dragons! Forest/Green Dragon!

Pathfinder 1e had a Forest-type Imperial Dragon called a Dilung. They were CE, and inhabited temperate forests. Interestingly, a Dilung Forest Dragon lacked a true breath weapon, so instead would crush rocks in its mouth and then expel the fragments as a kind of “Shrapnel Breath”. At Young...

D&D General Different regions VS different planes

the system I currently use: The Astral Sea, Elemental Chaos, Shadowfell, and Abyss are extraplanar locations, home to the supernatural spirits (celestials, elementals, incorporeal undead, and fiends). The Ethereal Plane is the bridge between the Material Plane and the Astral Sea, Elemental...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

LAST SUNDAY WE RESUMED PLAY!!! The PCs were hired to explore the Glass Plateau of the Mournland. Approaching the city of Making, they fought three animated pools of mercury and a figure wearing stain-glass armor. After defeating these foes, the PCs crossed a bridge and were attacked by a...
