What should WOTC do about Golden Wyvern Adept? (Keep Friendly)

My point is that a heraldic term is very narrowly functional, and I don't like it at all. I mean, presumably 'Golden Wyvern Adepts' do more than simply shape how spells fall. Why would it be associated with just one particular ability, which (again, presumably) numerous other traditions would...

What should WOTC do about Golden Wyvern Adept? (Keep Friendly)

Golden Wyvern would be cool with me if it meant something like 'Fire spells are treated as sunlight' or gain the 'Sun' descriptor or allow clerics with Sun domain to use Flight spell at will or... Something goldenish, or wyvernly, or... something. Similarly, if 'spellshaping' was 'Golden...

Have "cross-class" skill deliniations finally been removed?

Personally, I like cross-class skills, particularly with feats to add exceptions (I can always train these skills because of my background). Trained/untrained always made sense to me. I mean, if you have no training in smithing, how well are you going to make a sword? Or playing a lute? There...

    "Science" as a power source?

SCIENCE! controller has fascinating potential. (tanglefoot bags but more powerful, blinding powders...) Actually, 'alchemy' has potential, separate from Science/technology. Maybe Alchemy, Mechanics, ... Hmm. For alchemy, I'm suddenly struck by the idea of someone like Bane. ;) (orcs through...

What should WOTC do about Golden Wyvern Adept? (Keep Friendly)

I would vastly prefer something I've seen in 3.5e books, which is 'this organization typically teaches the following feats/spells.' So, for example, if Golden Wyvern Adepts often learn Spellshaping, Greater Range, and Combat Casting, you have an idea of the kind of group/focus the organization...

    Why I love gamers

The problem with 'but it's just SciFi/fantasy' is that where do you stop? I mean, if you chuck out everything, you can have a scene where cops make buildings explode by spitting on them. Why? It's fantasy! Pigs are natural burrowers and start shooting green rays. Why? It's fantasy! I mean...

    Am I being unreasonable?

Stacking bonuses... I figured this was yet another rule the OP had missed. As for shield bash... I stand corrected. ;)

    Am I being unreasonable?

I'd let him use two bucklers. A +1 shield bonus and a +1 shield bonus... yep, total of +1 shield bonus. Named bonuses don't stack. But hey, there's always shield bash.

    So, who has Delta Green?

Sorta neither, actually. My Endtimes idea came about rather apart from the original End Time stuff, derived straight from the original DG book and thinking out the consequences of various CoC peculiarities. Like, what if Cthulhu is coming SOON? There's the Dreamlands... it's already established...

    So, who has Delta Green?

Yeah, I did Endtimes stuff (uncompleted but here: http://www.williamtimmins.com/DG/endtime/index.html ) and inspired Andy Robertson to create the cool pseudo-science Domain Physics ( http://home.clara.net/andywrobertson/dslindex.html ) DG is one of my favorite games ever... if I ever run it...

    So, who has Delta Green?

Hey Jurgen! Dunno if you remember Will Timmins, but... howdy. I have the original book and Countdown. Unfortunately, the group I'm in includes one or two folks who 'don't like horror,' so I've had to let my DG stuff lay fallow for some time now. Sniff.

Jon Tweet - Magic Item Creation

If you're talking about 3.5e, then you're wrong. On topic... in the games I've run/been in, XP cost has more been an esthetic problem than a pragmatic one. It's just... annoying. I also find it annoying that magical crafting is utterly divorced from regular craftign... it'd be neat if, say, a...

    Sell me on fey!

This thread is interesting; I was thinking recently that it'd be neat to run a campaign where fey featured more prominently. In most games I've run/been in, the focus is typically undead or on outsiders. I was also thinking of running E6, and I think the large number of CR9- fey would work well...

Well, I'm also arguing with you, Fifth.

    Reincarnate and its interpretation

I'm a writer. Writing is like painting... you build meaning through setting up words and sentences to create a picture of what you are describing. Writing in a technically and literally precise manner produces stuff as dense and fun to read as a legal document. The level of literal reading of...

    Are undead immune to telepathy?

I REALLY dislike the construct/vermin/undead blanket mind immunity... it's just dumb. It'd make a lot more sense to say something like 'Int 1 or 0 means you are immune to Mind-affecting spells.' I'll chalk that up with grumbling about Extraordinary abilities not distinguishing between...

    Reincarnate and its interpretation

Well, it's good to reflect that agreeing to disagree does not mean you have to agree that the other point of view has any merit or sense what-so-ever, but that you recognize no ground is going to be made and will pop off to do something more productive, like grab a beer. I'm with the...

If we all rolled the normal way for stats, how come he has three 18's?

In the E6 thread is the concept of point buy 'paying' for LA. So if normal point level is 35, +1 LA could be 'paid for' by only having 27 points (or something, I don't have the chart on hand). It'd be interesting to do it that way... someone who rolled a high point value having an effective LA...
