    D&D 5E (2014) The Missing Equipment

I don't really want to see an equipment book. The tendency is to try and make 'cool' stuff....which leads to power creep and bloat. Maybe an item or two in an adventure path or players guide... but very few and very far between.

    D&D 5E (2014) Assassinate

First of all.... being invisible *DOES* give advantage on attack rolls. Second...what are you talking about?? You quoted me, but I said *nothing* about gaining advantage on attack rolls from 'exceptional stealth'....?? My entire passage is about getting advantage on the *initiative* roll...

Baldman Games & WotC On All Access Issues At Gen Con

Which is good to know. But it doesn't mean he is any good at organizing and running events. Nor does it mean he is any good at "hiring" people that are good at organizing and running events.

    The Confederate Flag

The people in New Jersey want strict gun control, the people of Vermont want anyone to be allowed to conceal carry without a permit. As long as the laws are not violating the constitution, why would you want the Feds dictating exactly how every state should work? Why not allow the states decide...

    The Confederate Flag

Then you really need to expand your experiences.... Of course there issues that trigger the concern, but the concern is valid regardless. I, for one, don't want an overbearing Fed telling states what they can and can't do. (except in the areas where they are specifically allowed to do so)...

    The Confederate Flag

Yay... lots of stereotypes and bigotted comments... way to make assumptions about an entire group of people that lump them all into the same category. There are a lot of people that are concerned with states rights.... that the *states* are intended to be allowed to operate how *their* citizens...

Baldman Games & WotC On All Access Issues At Gen Con

But not the same level that WotC was last year.

    D&D 5E (2014) Assassinate

Do none of you people use advantage/disadvantage for initiative rolls? If you have an assassin moving into careful position.... that could easily provide advantage. If the target is feeling safe and secure.... that could provide disadvantage. Sometimes you might even get both.... An Assassin...

    D&D 5E (2014) Assassinate

BUt you need to realize that is not how the rules describe combat. The rules do not allow for those 'not quite in combat yet' attacks.

Unearthed Arcana Crawford On Lots Of Stuff! Release Tempo, Video Games, OGL, Conventions, Unearthed Arcana, 2018, Tia

Not at all. If you are able to adapt as you develop, that is being nimble, or 'agile' even. Mearls used SCAG as an example, they were developing certain sub-classes a certain way... but based on PHB feedback they changed things up. That is agile/nimble

Baldman Games & WotC On All Access Issues At Gen Con

Two long time DMs here went to GC, and had similarly bad things to say about BMG organization. Part of it may stem from a new person doing the organizing. Perhaps he will get better, perhaps the other guy will come back... WotC was not at GenCon. BMG was running the AL gaming at the Con...

Baldman Games & WotC On All Access Issues At Gen Con

If you didn't fill out the DM evaluation, you should contact BMG so they know. Otherwise they have no way of knowing which are the good or bad DMs.

Baldman Games & WotC On All Access Issues At Gen Con

Different issue. To be allowed a microphone, you have to be a higher sponsor level, IIRC another $75K for Baldman.

Baldman Games & WotC On All Access Issues At Gen Con

The castle belongs to WotC, not Baldman. So it will not be back unless WotC starts running the games at the Cons again.

    D&D 5E (2014) Twinned Elemental Affinity

It is still one spell, but now with two targets. Since damage is occuring at the same time, there is only 1 damage roll, and Ele Aff is added to both. So at level 10, Firebolt is cast and twinned... you roll 2D10+Int and that damage applies to both targets.

D&D 5E (2014) Wizards not taking Gencon seriously?

According to Mearls.... the feedback they have gotten is GenCon is for playing RPG games, so WotC doesn't do much there. PAX is not for playing RPGs, so they can have lots of panels etc. WotC did not have a booth, but they did have several folks there. Baldman Games was running the AL games...

    D&D 5E (2014) Assassinate

You still do damage, you still get advantage... you just don't get an automatic critical. The 'fiction' behind Assassinate is that you caught him *so off guard* that he will not even get to react and you can get extreme pinpoint accuracy. It is like casting Hold Person for the attack. If...

    D&D 5E (2014) Assassinate

Except *every single rule* agrees with his interpretation. If surprised, you take a turn first round, and just can't do anything. The rules say this... all of the rules say this, and they all work with this. There is no rule that says you don't take a turn if surprised... you are making that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Assassinate

while that is also the way I play it, that is not stated in the rules. In fact, there is *no ending* listed in the rules. Thus some DMs interpret it as you do, and some interpret it as lasting the entire round. (None that I know of have it last the entire fight, or entire session, etc.)...

D&D 5E (2014) How many encounters in an adventure? (math question)

Because I am a math geek, and bored... The first problem is "Medium" is a range of XP, not a static number. Second problem is that the encounter difficulty is determined by XP *and* number of creatures, while leveling XP is only determined by XP. IOW, for your calculation to work, every...
