    D&D 5E (2024) Subclasses should start at 1st level

Keep in mind that Fighting Styles are now level 1 feats. And you can only get them if you take a Warrior class....

    D&D 5E (2024) Bard Playtest discussion

What. So we have to call someone on metagaming .... through IC actions? That's some uno reversal shinanigans right there.

    D&D 5E (2024) My current assessment…

I want to see rogue gear be made viable long term. Poison, caltrops and ball bearings, smoke bombs, alchemist fire/acid, disguises and forgery. If we get those working on the same level as magic... Thief and assassin can match arcane trickster archetype in terms of utility and in combat damage...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger playtest discussion

I don't think Putin cares enough about D&D to have the devs seduced. You never know, but...

Wait, so we don't want to eat the Rouge subs? I'm confused now.

    D&D 5E (2024) My current assessment…

All experts have a kind of soft... second sub-role. Bards are sub-healers. Rangers are sub-Warriors. Rogues are sub-ummm... something? And its likely not the last we're going to see of it. Paladins are main priest (healer), sub-warrior. Druids are main priest, sub-Expert (aka exploration)...

D&D 5E (2024) Artificer access to the Arcane spell list

You're literally using the definition of Arcane magic to explain how Artificers go beyond Arcane magic. Arcane magic is the scientific study of magic on a fundamental level, and using that knowledge to create various effects. That's literally what both Artificers and Wizards do to cast magic...

    D&D 5E (2024) My current assessment…

5e bards had MORE and stronger healing spells in 5e than Song of Restoration. Hells, they're not even all healing magic. Too far? You must have really hated healing on the old bard too, then.

    D&D 5E (2024) My current assessment…

I mean to say Expertise there, my mistake. Its odd that casters are on par with Rogue's Expertise. That's still a quality of life change, not a power bump. It makes BI easier to use, not a direct increase of power. QoL changes are not the same as power bumps. And its not like the loss of...

    D&D 5E (2024) My current assessment…

Beyond the prepared spell thing (which only brings bard up to cleric/druid/wizard levels, not improves casters as a whole), I don't think bards really got strengthened. They're BI-starved with a subclass that wants to use them extensively, their ability to heal got heavily nerfed, and their...

D&D 5E (2024) Artificer access to the Arcane spell list

Frankenstein monsters fall under flesh golems and homoculi category, both Constructs and not Undead. That should be Transmutation school, not Necromancy, along with the creation of chimera-like beings.

D&D 5E (2024) I'm getting increasingly worried about the fate of sorcerer

They'll likely print the sorcerer, but I am honestly afraid that they'll still end up as the "wizards stole my metamagic, Venn Diagram of Patrons and Origins is a circle" class. If that does happen, I'm just dropping Sorcerer and making Artificer into the third Mage class for my game...

D&D 5E (2024) Artificer access to the Arcane spell list

Rangers are only banned from Evocations in the Primal spell list. Just saying that we don't need to as extensively block off spell schools as we did with the bard. Necromancy is probably a good one, as is Enchantment (spare the dying and catnap are the spells). The tricky part of the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Subclasses should start at 1st level

In my experience, there are three kinds of multiclassing. Dips, hybrids, and mid-life crisis. Dips are where you are primarily one class, but take a level or two of another class to support your main and remove dead levels. This is the kind of multiclassing that the current multiclass rules...

D&D 5E (2024) The more I think about it, the least I like class groups.

Okay, but what is the essence of the sorcerer? Everyone I ask gives me different answers. Or they default to the old 3e version.

D&D 5E (2024) Should sorcerers and warlocks get their spell list from their subclass?

To be absolutely fair, paladin and cleric do match really well, as do druid and ranger. Sorcerers once shared the wizard list in its entirty, and warlocks, well, other than their unique spells, really are a wizard subset with little from elsewhere. Bard really is the odd one out here.

D&D 5E (2024) Wither the Wizard? (or: Bards don’t have ACNE)

The only thing "unfitting" for a sorcerer spell is that some people really, really get into the idea that sorcerers should be incapable of casting "complex" spells and be a gimp'd wizard. Forget the martial/caster divide. We've got the Sorcerer/Wizard divide.

    D&D 5E (2024) Subclasses should start at 1st level

Note that Thieves Cant grants another language in addition to the actual thief speak. So you basically get both? Dunno.

D&D 5E (2024) The more I think about it, the least I like class groups.

Just an aside, but.... We have at least four psionics subclasses, spread between mage, warrior and expert. Dark Suns also tries to redefine a bard as an alchemist which... Hard sell under current rules.
