    Worlds of Design: Playing Favorites

Isn't it frustrating that the publisher has defacto decided to stop producing new content for Star Wars? I know their predecessor made a lot over the years, but I feel what Edge has done with the IP (pretty much nothing for years on end) is disappointing to the point of feeling disingenuous on...

Sure, but not fulfilling the "promise of D&D" seems like it would be a pretty big deal.

I think it is clear that quite a lot of people weren't looking at continuing 3e development, and even if they were 4e's changes (and in particular its rather in-your-face IMO presentation shift) may very well be a significant and unwanted departure from the era of 3e development they preferred...

One's personal opinion of departures doesn't of course make them not departures.

So your claim is in their estimation wrong (and in my estimation mischaracterized as objective fact), and they wanted to disagree in writing?

Well, it certainly looked like a big deal. And for the 4e fans I heard from on this very site, you's think it was some kind of answer to their tabletop prayers, so I'm not sure that describing 4e's changes as "not a big deal" can be universally applied here the way you are doing it.

Yup. All those things definitely departed from D&D as I played it. And I didn't care for the aesthetic either. Not that any of that makes it a bad game for anyone but me and mine

I honestly prefer games where it's possible to lose. I told a story about a recent campaign that ended with a definite personal loss, and it was amazing!

They don't. They care about what it says on the cover and that's all, as far as I can tell.

Sometimes. It's a lot of fun, actually.

Whereas I feel that denigrates less mainstream popular opinions unfairly. Better IMO to dispense with popularity as a metric unless we're talking about money.
