Again, because sometimes nothing happens. If you don't like that in your gaming, you are welcome to have something happen all the time.

You know it's ok for you to like 4e without feeling the need to defend it's D&D-ness. No one is arguing it's a bad game in anything beyond the "for me" sense.

You say that like the game's publishing history is the only thing that matters to people on this issue.

As it turns out, many things can be both accurate and irrelevant to the task at hand.

If that's all that it took, the entire course of gaming history for the last nearly 20 years would have been different.

Does everyone have to be happy with the game all the time?

It accomplishes the goal of "nothing happens" being a logical outcome in some circumstances, and wanting said logical outcome to be possible in play.. Since that goal isn't important to you personally, it seems irrelevant.

Sounds like a request to get people off the thread if they're happy with their current play.

That could certainly be one of the things explored, but even Planescape was about more than that.

IMO, 4e is less related to other forms of D&D than a lot of games produced by neither TSR nor WotC

Yup. If they weren't so clearly biased towards the "N" in GNS, I might take them more seriously.

I was going to say. Not a fan of Watchmen? Personally I loved that they did that.

    Should PCs Be Exceptional?

I just don't see the point of framing these discussions in terms of how popular one style or technique or game or whatever is. It seems to always be used in response to someone stating their opinion about something, and to me it really reads like the more popular something is, the more important...

Level Up (A5E) Announcing A5Evening: An All Party Round Up (an A5e Youtube 'news' show)

I just finished listening to this. Amazing! Great work! If I could be more excited about @Steampunkette 's new book, I would be.

It's either a problem for you and your table, or it isn't. You're not playing with other people, so what's happening at their tables is an issue for them, not you.

D&D General You Don’t Have To Leave Wolfy Behind... In 'Pets & Sidekicks' Your Companions Level Up With You!

I've been thinking about converting A5e stronghold followers (including Voidrunner's officers) into companions for my own games, but I suspect this book will cover similar ground. Really looking forward to it!

I always found that an endearing quirk of the game.

Agreed. Why are we still talking about this then? We are playing very different games, and (hopefully) we're all ok with that.

I think there should be a limit, so in my games there is. IMO that's how everyone should do it if they have an issue with their game.

In my games, stay-at-homes level slower, but they can and do level.
