Not sure that D&D did much, while there is no new digital game, the largest part of growth outside of MtG was licensing. Not sure how MtG splits between tabletop and digital. D&D sales are majority DDB by now, I think WotC said 60% either in Q3 or Q4 of last year, so the 1% digital increase...

I doubt it, the OGL did not save 3e, it would not have saved 4e either. It might have lived a little longer, but its main failure was leaving a lot of customers behind and that was not just because of the (lack of) OGL

I always considered backwards compatibility overrated. Compatibility with adventures, yes, but with classes / subclasses, no. They should have gone much farther there imo and harmonized the progression across classes

more importantly, Hasbro is creating a lot more than just D&D, so while WotC might even be safe (no idea where Magic cards are being printed), that still does not mean that Hasbro is.

say what? You cannot say I grew truck sales by 20% and sedan sales by 10%, so my overall sales are up 30%. The total increase should be between 10% and 20% then… Maybe that is what they did if the numbers add up, but then that is a meaningless and misleading number. I expected a weighted average

they might regret it, but I believe Ryan was right and WotC gained a lot more from it than they might have lost in sales. D&D is pretty dominant and there is a ton of non-WotC material luring players to it. WotC might have lost some crumbs, but they got a much larger cake for it
