    Keep on the Chaos Scar

Crazyred is an awesome artist. Maps that show an overhead view of the buildings and structures are extremely useful for me in imagining the place. Is the term isometric view correct? I can wrap my head around these types maps so much better than simply top down maps. I'd like to see more of...

    Companion Characters...how's it working out?

Hum, I don't know if anyone has tried it out, but with enough beer and pretzels, I can imagine some strange CC combinations. With even more beer, the DM might be dealing with a party of five fire beetles :) I think a Companion Character might be a quick way to allow a curious new player (who...

    Companion Characters...how's it working out?

It would be great if you did. I'd snatch it up. I've been keeping a lookout for any third party products related to Companion Characters. Haven't seen one yet, but I'm sure someone will take advantage of the opportunity. A sourcebook with Companion Characters with stats and backgrounds of...

    A Return to the Dungeon

I hope I'm understanding the questions correctly. I think making The Dungeon the central focus of an adventure can be accomplished by design. It should not be uncommon for Dungeons (and natural underground caves/formations as well) to be a hazard unto themselves. For example, various traps...

    Companion Characters...how's it working out?

Let's talk about companion characters (I'll abbrev. as CCs). In the DMG II, the idea of CCs was introduced: DM created, Player controlled party members with limited powers/bookkeeping requirements. I'm delighted by the concept because I'm rarely able to round up more than two or three players...

Where do you see (or want) 5.0 to go?

I'm just now really getting into 4e What I don't want is for 5e to be such a huge change that all my current 4e resources become completely obsolete. I hope they build on 4e instead of drastically altering the rules again. The mention of 5e still strikes fear in my heart. Let it be far, far...

Warforged vs. Kalashtar RM:UT Round 1 (One Day Only!)

I still don't know how to properly pronounce Kalashtar??? Is that 'h' silent?

    Solo Adventure Scenario in Dungeon!

I plan to use it for both. It might also be a nice way to playtest some character builds.

    Dark Awakening (solo adventure)

I sent feedback to WotC telling them thanks for the solo adventure. If you have a laptop, you can even play D&D while on a long bus ride. You may get a few interesting glances, but who cares :) I hope this is not the last solo adventure we see.

    Solo Adventure Scenario in Dungeon!

Does anyone know what Dungeon Tiles set(s) are needed if you wan to use them with this adventure? I could not find it anywhere in the text. Thanks.

What would you use a d4 and d12 for?

Once again, someone beat me to the punch :) I have stepped on a d4 with bare feet. And it hurts like hell. d4s really are better weapons than they are dice.

How do I recover from a DM burnout?

These two statements are a big clue as to what is going on. You said your players want to game even more than you do. Why do you suppose your players are chomping at the bit to play? It is most likely because you are a very good DM. Being that good requires energy. I agree with the others...

How do I recover from a DM burnout?

I won't pretend to have all the answers, but here are a few things to think about. It sounds to me like your skills and creativity has increased over time (which is normal). However, it also sounds like you might be striving for perfection in your game ideas. It is a great thing to set high...

    Plotting and RPing....

I'll admit that in my attempts to 'flourish' combat, I do occasionally spew out something that sounds like, for a lack of a better word, cheesy. Nevertheless, my players seem to enjoy even that since it unintentionally inserts a bit of comedy. At best my players get a good chuckle; at worst...

Are there warm places in space?

Thank you. Although bizarre to think about, it certainly makes sense now.

Are there warm places in space?

Wow, thanks for the replies. This topic is even more mind-boggling than I first imagined. Let me re-phrase the question. Let's ignore, for a moment, the fact that deadly things like lack of air and radiation might kill me fast. If I jump out of a spaceship without the protection of a space...

I need an adventure hook, fast!

Lord Baron has been writing bad letters to the empire...uh, no. I suggest you take a look at Hags. There is something cool about Hags, but you don't really see them often in play. Perhaps a covey of hags are intent on building an altar of bones for a dark ritual. To speed things along, they...

    Plotting and RPing....

One strategy I use to avoid the 'you hit/you miss' problem is to add one small trait to each monster. For example, let's say I have a group of three goblins that the PCs will encounter. Rather than label them as Goblin 1, Goblin 2, etc., I might note that Goblin 1 is the tough looking one with...
