D&D 5E (2014) Companion thread to 5E Survivor - Subclasses (Part IX: Paladin)

They literally had to drop the 70% requirement because of the massive amounts of hate that any new wizard school got, just for being a wizard school. The Sorcerer/Warlock lobby was poisoning the well so much that even the boringly obvious gap of the War Magic school couldn't pass the bar...

    A Candlekeep Mystery (IC)

Argenti moves forward carefully, wary of more traps.

(IC) We be Jammin' (5e PBP)

Glau quickly reaches out to arm themself with anything they can get ahold of. There was a stool nearby, from where a merchant was sitting before the quake. And just over there, a bucket. It would have to do. "Capitan, we need a plan here!" they called back. And then something downright strange...

    Spelljammin' (5e PBP OOC) (Full)

Well I get two attacks at level 5 to start, and the new way that two weapon fighting removes the bonus action requirement from off-hand attacks. So basically with the attack action, you take one attack with the natural weapon and one attack with like a dagger or something, and the dagger...

    Spelljammin' (5e PBP OOC) (Full)

Check this out: Seeing as how Glau doesn't actually need a hand to attack, thanks to their Thagomizer Beast Tail or Bite attacks, Glau can use two weapon fighting to get three attacks per turn, without using their bonus action! This is a huge boon in regards to action economy, Allowing three...

    Spelljammin' (5e PBP OOC) (Full)

I just realized that the new Two-weapon fighting rules from the playtest radically change how my character functions!

D&D 5E (2024) What's your opinion on the standardization of Spellcasters?

The more I think about it, the more I agree with the principle behind the change: known spell casters just pick the "good spells", which forces severe levels of similarities in classes that are supposed to be defined by how unique they are, and effectively gates them off from having the fun...

    The Savage Seas (5e) [IC]

No idea how far away Crawdad is at this point, but here is the roll. Initiative: 1D20+2 = [17]+2 = 19

    The Mourning After (Horror) (IC)

"I.. don't remember my life before this very well." Yelisha stutters with a composite voice. "Or maybe, lives. There are so many memories... Sometimes I am tall and strong, other times I am deceptive and quiet. A few times, the same memory plays out from different places at the same time." She...

    The Savage Seas (5e) [IC]

Crawdad takes a moment to fan the outside air into his face, and is noticeably relived. "By all means, lead on."

Is The Forum Getting More Antagonistic?

As someone who works face to face customer service: The antagonistic behavior is not limited to just the internet, I can assure you. People have been steadily getting more angry over the past three years, for obvious reasons.

WotC You want to be a D&D miniature? Hasbro wants to make it possible.

That's probably the Selfie Series technology scaled down a bit.

D&D 5E (2024) Barbarians, Monks, the Warrior Group and Fighting Styles

You want speculation? Power attack (the +damage - to hit feature of the 2014 sharpshooter and Great Weapon master feats) becomes a Warrior Group feature like how Expertise is the Expert Group feature.

    D&D 5E (2024) Subclasses should start at 1st level

Multiclassing is overrated. Given the improved focus on feats (which are still tied to class level, not character level), and the strong possibilities of reworking the problem child subclasses ( hi to you Hexblade). Front loading classes isn't going to be that much of a concern.

    D&D 5E (2024) Subclasses should start at 1st level

I never understood the "lower levels are for learning the game" argument. Given that subclasses can radically change how a character is played by giving the character new roles and mechanics (and often unique mechanics) you can't use levels 1 and 2 to learn how to play your character, because...

    The Mourning After (Horror) (IC)

3rd of Zarantyr, 998 YK. Dusk. Eyrna Niadh's house, Northshore, Metrol, Cyre The party agrees to the deal, and Eyrena leads them to her home. There they meet the "sister" in question. The woman is (was?) a Half-Elf, but large portions of her body are missing; replaced with the parts of what...

D&D 5E (2024) UA Groups: Expert, Mage, Priest, Warrior

I could see the case for Warlock fitting into the priest group. Mostly to differentiate them from Sorcerers, who are otherwise uncomfortably close to each other in terms of theming. On the other hand, I kind of want to see some grid filling, putting a full caster, half caster, and a "martial"...

(IC) We be Jammin' (5e PBP)

If Glau had a jaw, it would be hanging agape. "Capitan, I think they are going to need more than a little help here..."

(IC) We be Jammin' (5e PBP)

"Aye, Capitan!" Glau responds by standing themselves to attention, then helps any nearby bystanders who have fallen by picking them back up onto their feet.
