Good games specifically to showcase non-D&D TTRPGs

I love the concept of BitD. However, I am worried about having the time and energy to run it. Blades seems like it has a lot of tracking of resources and gang capabilities and faction relations/motivations and such. Do you find it to be the case? If you love the concepts, give it a good read...

Good games specifically to showcase non-D&D TTRPGs

Blades in the Dark. The game has hard limitations on character death - it can happen, but how & when is controlled by the group. Since your group had an issue with PC death, it might do the trick.

Would You Rather Maintain Campaign Theme or Win?

Following the theme of a "Fighting/War Wizard" (one of my favorites), Physical. I can't damage or destroy physical objects with Mental/Stun magic, and combat isn't always about targeting living targets. Having the ability to destroy an opponent's possessions could even have greater...

Integrating AI NPCs into Your Campaign

Can AI NPCs react to all the possible actions of players and their characters? If so, how?

Which of these is the optimal distance of measurement for your TTRPG enjoyment?

Three inches, which is thirty feet within an AD&D dungeon, but becomes again three inches for the purposes of tabletop miniature usage.

    Fun vs balance [poll]

"Fun isn't balanced" and "Balance isn't fun". Okay. D&D has never been balanced: Magic-Users/Wizards suck at low level but become demigods at mid-high level. But it's the most popular RPG on ground. People champion Apocalypse World but it has XP and Advancement to improve a PC just like D&D...

What are the greatest published adventures you've run?

Ravenloft (I6). 3 times, 2 TPKs. Actually the first run should've been a TPK but my friend was running a Paladin he really, really liked.

How do you create an adventure when it can be about "anything?"

Upon hearing "anything" I'd creep towards either a Superhero RPG or RIFTS (Palladium's rather than the rated-G SW edition). You want "anything" do you?

Which of these is the optimal distance of measurement for your TTRPG enjoyment?

I, like so many of those in this hobby, prefer Palms. They're the only truly distinctive means of calculating space without employing a calculator.

    Why do RPGs have rules?

If "Forge Games™" are so valuable and interesting, why don't they dominate the RPG hobby - like say WoTC's golden calf or CoC or Traveller or Cyberpunk or those other really boring games that everyone is playing?

Replacing Alignment with Character Arcs and Values

Obscure and unrealistic to you ;) The sun doesn't rise and fall on D&D for many gamers.

Replacing Alignment with Character Arcs and Values

Since GMs actually run the games most players play, more players would indeed know about more narrative-focused rpgs if their GMs introduced them to those games, wouldn't you agree? As GM I've introduced some players to new (to them) game systems that they enjoyed more than D&D/PF.

Replacing Alignment with Character Arcs and Values

Looks like Railroad the RPG™. You're using a literary concept (character arc) and imposing it on people playing a game and that isn't railroading? GM: "Okay so instead of alignment, you pick values and then I'll create scenes where those values force your character to change. The change...

Game Mechanics Which Encourage Character Arc Progression

Any? You just tell the GM/group that your character wants to go with such-and-such directional arc and it happens. You don't need rules to do that. You can do it with Risus or D&D or A Song of Ice and Fire or whatever game you're using.
