    Game Design Masterclass: Going Diceless

Diceless reminds me of playing "Pretend" as a child. Fun, but there was always that kid who was invincible because he said so. Dice bring order to playing Pretend.

    How to Evil Properly?

It's how your PC deals with situations. They can be charming and funny, like the characters in Goodfellas, but when they're "doing their business" or someone crosses them, things can get ugly in a hurry. They can have a family and friends they love, mainly because those people don't judge them...

What makes a good map good?

You can read it:p Maze maps are fun. I love it when players don't know they're in a maze. Makes me feel like a GM.

How to avoid RPG dumpster fires like the Far Verona controversy

Eh. Fine publicity-stunt, mostly. A (co) game-designer (Koebel), Europe's most popular D&D streaming GM (hulmes), director of creative commons@twitch (djwheat), a Geek & Sundry & Twitch partner (vana), and a voice actress (elspeth). Sure. Get everyone talking about the episode. Hype-train...

Is the DM the most important person at the table

I hate that GMs need to apologise and defend themselves here, as if, they do less than players do. Do we? I mean. After decades of running games for strange players across the hobby, no respect. No consideration. No love. But, you say the person designing adventures and campaigns is of equal...

Is the DM the most important person at the table

D/GM are more important: The D/GM is more significant due to scarcity and skill: Everyone can't run a game, especially run a game well. Is it "hard"? Definitely "harder" than showing up with a character sheet. Even running a game "Lazy GM" style, it's more work via improv than what the players...

    Dungeon World

This game is bad because it controls players decisions. Everything about it is control. What if FATE characters were free if GM control?

The Thread In Which We Rant

Ok. I rant about dumb players with limited knowledge of designing rpgs - ranting. STFU. The hobby is bigger than you.

The Thread In Which We Rant

So I rant about how rpgs are many things rather than a simple collection of stats.

With how many people have of role-played with since your first game?

Your chart lost me. You act like rpgs are one thing and they aren't. Rpgs are many things.

The thread in which we are thankful

Thankful for the GMs and players who make the choices and decisions of rpg sessions engaging. It's the odd situations that count the most, for me.

What's Your Favorite System for Star Wars

Late entry: Uncharted Worlds. It's a PbtA game that covers a wide base of sci-fi gaming. 'The Force' would fall under the 'Magic' rules easily.

    "Guess and Check" Encounter Design

You need to ask this question? GMs ALWAYS have to teach players. They're all over the place! Without GM guidance, players will usually arrive at a nice TPK. Consider their limits --- then, educate them. The education is how they grow to be GMs.

What are your favourite single game mechanics?

The Arcanum. Armor as damage-reduction. Changed my mind as a GM.

What Magic Would Be Most Realistically Most Impactful?

Another silly thread. Magic could transform the entire world. The limit of magic is only imagination. Next thread ---

Worlds of Design: The Many Shades of RPG Play

No. D&D IS based on historical combat tactics drawn from wargaming. You don't have enough history regarding Gygax and his group's connection to real military troop tactics. You think D&D combat is some imaginary thing coming from the minds of novice gamers but, D&D combat emerged from...

    Prepping A Game

I condense my adventures to a simple 1-page document and improv everything not covered. Great sessions, to the point players want to go on beyond the 4-6 hours we slated. Getting good at improv is important. Even vital. As GM, you need to be able to *turn on a dime* in a narrative sense...
