D&D 5E (2024) GREYHAWKCONFIRMED! Reflections on Greyhawk in the DMG

You could add Restenford as a map addition (nods to the L series) Though Maure Castle already appears in Darlene’s map.

    D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Dungeon Master's Guide's Greyhawk Map

The Greyhawk Wars saw the Shield Lands lose 100% to Iuz’s forces. The Iuz the Evil accessory had the Shield Lands as a province of Iuz’s empire. The Adventure Begins saw the Great Northern Crusade reclaim a foothold at Critwall and the Critwall Bridge, with around a 30-mile radius from there...

D&D 5E (2024) GREYHAWKCONFIRMED! Reflections on Greyhawk in the DMG

A lot of small coastal islands have been added, like the many coastal islands in the 2e Scarlet Brotherhood accessory, especially along the Spine Ridge. I noticed that LGG added a fourth big island for the Sea Princes, that Darlene only had 3. But Schley returns to pre-LGG three big islands.

D&D 5E (2024) GREYHAWKCONFIRMED! Reflections on Greyhawk in the DMG

I had a fairly comprehensive list in a different thread. Mostly from memory… Paynims to … I can’t remember Tiger Nomads to Chakyik Wolf Nomads to Wegwuir Blackmoor to Arn Rovers of the Barrens to The Huntinglands Frost/Ice/Snow Barbarians to their own kingdom names. North Province to Aerdiaak...

D&D 5E (2024) GREYHAWKCONFIRMED! Reflections on Greyhawk in the DMG

Glorioles got a deserved renaming because sometimes you need to head off the distraction of our inner 15-year-old. Shibboleth got renamed to Froghome, I’m ¯\(ツ)/¯ about that one but fine.

    Frieren: Beyond Journey's End anime

I’ve thought about ordering the Manga as well, but I doubt I would re-read like I re-watch Frieren, then it would just take up space. I’ve re-watched it a few times since it completed, too. Thought there is a fair chance I would buy any BluRay collection!

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

In this case, I could imagine there was a pass by cultural consultants who advised not using terms with a history of being applied to “heathen outsiders/invaders”. Nomad, Rover, Barbarian, Paynim. Maybe even with Rovers of the Barren, dropping the word “Barren” as an association of being...

Here is one site that has it, Dungeons & Dragons' New Core Rulebooks Want to Show, Not Tell

And the name Shar made its first appearance in the 2e accessory, The Scarlet Brotherhood, by Sean Reynolds.

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

AdmundfortGeographer’s review from this low res image: 🫡 👍 As much as I’d love including further north, west, and south, it is a good addition to the pantheon of Flanaess maps.

LOL of course they’d rename Glorioles! Shibboleth was renamed Froghome. Fair.

But these each three got “North …” appended to their name, and likely the reason North Province got renamed to Aerdiaak.

And … Aerdiaak? I thought I was fairly well read in Ivid, but is there lore associating that name to North Province/Kingdom?

Interesting. Renaming some of the northern regions, I see. Reasonable, too. Blackmoor named to Arn! Awww, nice touch!

D&D 5E (2024) How Does Greyhawk Fit In To The New Edition?

Not exactly true based on what I remember from what I recall authors like Erik Mona and Gary Holian saying, I think even Sean Reynolds was involved with writing the deities section and said as much, the LGG was being written while 3e rules was still under development. There was almost nothing...

Given that the drow “weren’t noticed” before GDQ, there’s enough precedent that a PC race is from some nearby obscure enclave.

D&D General When did you leave D&D? Why? For what game? And what brought you back?

The termination of Living Greyhawk. I was deep into LG and the treatment of the organizers was not great… I left RPGs entirely it was so demoralizing. Only a few years into 5e did I even give a consideration as my kids were coming to an age they started asking questions about my shelves and...

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

I figured he’d be too swamped as Paizo now. Though I recall hearing the Gary Holian wasn’t too keen on the sorts of ownership terms the DMsGuild published under and was pleased using the existing fan content policy that permits things like Oerth Journal.

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

Roger Moore, Gary Holian, Sean Reynolds… ? There were a few LG authors I’d grab immediately, such as the Onnwal and Splintered Suns region writers, like Creighton Broadhurst.
