Traditional fighting styles and Weapons to spice up the fighter

Looking at the pic in the D&D book, nah, thats just a scythe. Anyway, its not been a complete loss and it looks like Ive got some re-wording to do to make it clearer (bad at english, good at engrish :) ) My main fields of expertise in this matter is a study of Spartans from about 600BC to the...

    Is Domination Evil?

Have a cry and a lie down pet, youve obviously dented something. Applying contemporary morals and ethics to a fantasy setting with carved in stone behaviour patterns, is p*ssing up the same old dungeon wall is as old as the home invasion joke. You-just-cant-do-it. D&D is this Hack & Burn...

    Is Domination Evil?

I always had more of the irony of kicking down someones door, smashing up their stuff, hacking them and their companions to death with swords, axes, flails, burning their pet hydra to death in a fireball, stealing everything of worth and then doing the same to their neighbours in the next...

Traditional fighting styles and Weapons to spice up the fighter

You could do it that way, but at a closing range of under 30ft youre going to need to bring your melee weapon to bear pretty quickly otherwise it could get ugly. Its not a lot of extra damage on a charge and if it could be done outside of a charge then it could be regarded as overpowered. Yep...

Traditional fighting styles and Weapons to spice up the fighter

One of the things thats always annoyed me about just about any game system you'd care to name is the consistant lack of research by the designers to apply some of the more historical aspects of both fighting styles and weapons. Now, maybe youre all not crazed history buffs like me, but I like...

    D&D 3.x Class and cross-class skills in 3.5e

Have you met a lot of people with PhD after their name? Most of the ones I know tend to be fairly useless as a rule for anything outside their particular fields of experitise, that includes things like car maintaince, using a computer, finding their way outside the campus, balancing a check...

    D&D 3.x Class and cross-class skills in 3.5e

Actually Im thinking most would probably as NPC's be Experts rather than wizards, plenty of oppertunities out there for a DM to have places of learning in some of the more civilised areas where an academic could flourish.

    D&D 3.x Class and cross-class skills in 3.5e

1st gripe about CC skills: Not enough points, a generic +2 skill points per level wouldnt hurt. 2nd gripe about CC skills: Basic survival skills like Spot, Search & Listen arent available to many classes. But I do like Gez's idea, thats one of the easier way to may a character able to pick up...

    Barbarian Chieftain Prestige Class (3.0)

Im thinking much the same, give him cleric saves, let him keep the D12 and reduce the BaB and I think youre on a winner. Overall though I do like it a lot.

Anyone else think epic rules still need some help?

Theres a few posts here that present a few options for epic casting- http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=70323 To some degree I think you could probably dump them out of the game for levels 21-30 and have no real affects.

Anyone else think epic rules still need some help?

Yes, but Im looking at how they developed them and it seems to be a case of making 2x, 3x, 4x...9x characters and strapping stuff on them, sending them out against some random monsters and blowing them to bits. As your probably aware, not all of us make up a character of XX level all the time...

Fighters are Weak? I think not!!

The "Complete Warrior" sourcebook is well worth it for a player who's into fighters, lots of interesting feats in there, some of the Tactical ones are really nice and a whole heap of others involving weapon moves after a long set of feats. While they dont suit everyone's choice of weapons, there...

[Ethical Dilemma] Indiscriminate Use Of Chemical Weapons

For if they had read those examples of what is supposedly literature they would have dumped a cloudkill down there mixed in with an acid fog and a few walls of force to stop the bastard getting away. Slightly back on topic. It was a tactical manuever to save your arses, at least youre alive...

Anyone else think epic rules still need some help?

You reckon they actually tested them? Im sort of the thought some people went 'gee thats kewl' and rolled out some level 80something characters for a once-off game to "test" it. So far its taken over 8months to get epic spells working properly in our game and we arent anywhere near some of...

    Wizards... Are they shafted?

Theres been a few pro's and a few con's since 3.5- Pro's Staff's using caster level for spells in them (big bonus) Con's Someone in FR's using spell-power combined with some other feats that pumped DC's through the roof, fine for FR, for the rest of us that DO NOT play there and dont have...

Fighters are Weak? I think not!!

Looking over my collection of still active characters, and down here, not getting played enough is a 6th level LG human fighter. From day one this little fighter was an absolute beat-down master, a few feat chains, a guisarme and it was delightful to just have it trip enemies over then smash...

    Eliminating stat items

Just quickly before I bugger off into a meeting, did some quick calcs on my epic character (a level 32) and it seems to have been pretty close to what it is with her gear + stat book abuse. Thats for an 'average' to 'well equipped' epic character that has craft Misc Items. Lost a bit to save...

    Eliminating stat items

Its not a bad idea this one, Im annoyed at having to heavily rely on magic items at higher levels but Im not stupid enough either to ignore the fact that items that'll raise a DC or BAB by +1, 2 or 3 in hp's per level, not mention upping saves and skills to some degree are extreamly necessary...
