Keep on the Borderlands - your experiences?

We played the heck out of this thing! As a DM, I was always having the monsters move around, or I would re-populate areas that the PCs had already cleared, so they would run into "safe" caves to rest or re-group and find something waiting for them. :D As a player, I used it as a base for my...

    Hexes or Squares?

My group would rather pluck their own eyeballs out than use squares.

    What Monsters Do you Use?

Well, I'm runnig a very epic-style, good vs evil campaign, so I use a ton of undead and demons, which I love anyway, so everyone is happy... :)

    Liches?

Not to forget Bottled Imp's Lord's of the Night: Liches. That is also released as a .pdf and was pretty cool.

    requiring players to buy books

I guess it's largely not a problem for our group. All of us spend a sizeable amount on gaming products, and if I felt they really needed something to play in the game I was running, most of them would buy it, and that would mean we would have plenty of copies at the table. If they are missing...

    Original Psi HB vs. Revised?

I'd get the new one. The whole system is greatly improved, IMO.

Would YOU want a book of hand-drawn maps?

Count me in. I can always use more cool maps, and these look cool to me.

    Races of Destiny: Buying/Bought?

Almost certainly not going to buy it. Zero interest. As for DRM products available from drivethrurpg, I'm still toying with Frostburn, but I'd like to see the price drop at least a bit.

    Books Bought on Reviews/Recommendations?

As some have already mentioned, I screen almost every purchase here first, unless I already trust the quality of the company (Ronin Arts, for example, has yet to disappoint me). Books that were not at all on my radar that I bought were: Denizens of Avadnu (Excellent book, thanks for the sale!)...

    Denizens of Avadnu--your thoughts?

Never heard of this until I read this thread, and I'm looking for some monsters for my high-level campaign, so I picked it up. Really nice work, and I hope to use several creatures in the near future. Thanks for the tips!

If you could pick only three house rules for your game, what would they be?

    1. There is no Common language. 2. Multiclassing reststrictions do not exisit 3. The DM is always right, and if he/she is wrong, trust them to make it right later.

How do you organise the stuff from Dragon you want to use?

Would you be willing to post this tool? If I read it right, it's just an index with no content, which I believe is legal. I've got all the issues going back to around 285, and I would love to search on an idea (like, Prestige Classes), get a list, and drag that stack out of the closet and browse...

    recommend some pdf's!!

Just wanted to mention that based on the comments here I picked up Complete Minions from Bastion Press and Book of Template: Deluxe Edition from Silverthorn Games. I now know why everyone recommended it, there are both great, and the color art in Minions in particular was a pleasant surprise...

    Dungeon Master's Guide II

I've got to diagree with the premise of the thread. Anything with the word "ready made traps" and other such time saving devices is at least in the "check it out" category. And besidea, what do I care if WotC releases some goofy product I don't want? I'll save my money and buy something from...

    Planar books

Well, I'm pimping a DM's Guide to Demiplanes to anyone who will listen. It was/is very useful to me, as already mentioned the inclusion of Knowledge (the planes) check info was a nice touch, and you can drop much of it into a variety of setings or stories. For more money, Beyond Countless...

    recommend some pdf's!!

I'm in agreement with those who've mentioned Malhavoc Press (Monte Cook). It's canon law around these parts. In particular, I've gotten enormous use of of Beyond Countless Doorways. Lots of different ideas to fit whatever feel you are trying to acheive. Also maybe not in your scope, but I have...
