    D&D 3.x [3.5] Good 8th Level Wizard Spells?

Here's the spell list from my own personal spellsheet. It includes WoTC and Malhovac. Short list. Take a look at Lava Spikes from Dragon 294. Looks like it might work for you, and the save is reflex. I also like Nybor's Wrathful Castigation, I think that one is Magic of Faerun. Abjuration...

    Are there any spells that.....

I'm pretty familiar with all WoTC published spells, and I think the answer is no. There are numerous effects/items/prestige classes that raise your effective caster level, and therefore would give you a bonus on your caster level check. That might help, depending on what you are trying to do.

    Wizard or Sorcerer?

Turn me loose.... There is no comparison. Wizard. Don't get me wrong, I dig sorcerers and think they are plenty fine. But with the availablity of Prestige Classes and a few meta magic feats, higher levels a well prepared wizard is an awesome tool of destruction, protection, knowledge, or...

    Describe for me a 10 X 10 room

As you tug the door open, you sense, more than see, an empty space beyond. Behind you, the light of the sunrod reveals a roughly 10' x 10' space. You are tempted to take a step back as the smell of urine hits your nose. Something has passed by lately... As you step into the room more fully, more...

Help me swing my players away from clerics

I guess I'm in the "What's the problem?" camp. Sounds like they do a great job. If you're having trouble keeping up with all the options available, start removing gods/domains to get a better handle on it. Limit the source material players can use to keep spells under control. (I don't like...

Anyone Using the Spellcasting Variants in Unearthed Arcana?

Sure. I'm currently playing a spontaneous casting druid. I've got very limited spell choice, of course, which forces me to be extra creative and rely on other things to solve problems. I like it, and I don't think it has been a problem for us.

Gnome fans... Need your help w/ prank ideas!

Somebody stop me A Druid, right? 1. Use Create Water over a sleeping companion to wake them up. 2. Use Create Water over a non-sleeping companion to amuse yourself. 3. Summon Nature's Ally and have them pee on other people's items (bedrolls, breakfast, legs...). Try birds, messy fly-overs...

    Disappointed with Minis

I'm mostly in agreement. I bought several packs, and the quality of the minis varied greatly. Some looked pretty good, some looked like crap. I'm not "collecting" them, but I do intend to buy some every now and then to help flesh out my regular collection. I've got mixed feelings about the whole...

Failings of the Sunless Citadel: Details Please!

I ran our group through it, and we enjoyed it quite a bit. The CR broke down a little after the players had leveled up to 2nd, so I threw some extra monsters in. It got better after the critters figured out they were being invaded, and grouped together in large groups as compared to the smaller...

1000 non-RPG websites for RPG ideas

Incredible! I was awfully late to this thread, but I have found more cool stuff this week looking through these links than I've found in months. Just wanted to express my thanks.

What Level would you give these spells?

    1. So, with just the range, I'd say 5th. 2. See Scourge from Defenders of the Faith. Pretty much the same, 7th level. 3. Globe of Plague? So they must come to me or I must get close to them? 4th Cleric, 5th Arcane 4. I agree with 2nd level ro first, depending on effect variables.

    Online monster resources?

Just checked this out and I was really impressed. A great resource.

    Small Gods

I always liked the idea that if you could get worshippers, that was enough to be a god. Kind of like the God-Kings of old, or at least what they thought they were. That might lead to... Several hermits living in a commune. they all had hundreds/thousands of worshipers at one point, but are now...

    I've Fixed Alignment!!!!!!1!!1

Like many folks, I've had some trouble with alignment also. Most of our campaigns simply use it as a general guideline, unless your creature type actually specifies something (like a demon). This way, the paladins in our campaign won't be fooled by a demon in disguise when using Detect Evil...

Are you required to bring your own books when you game?

I own a lot of sourcebooks, so if you don't have your copy, I can bum you mine. We don't have issues with the PHB, cause everyone pretty much has their own and brings it. Players are also likely to bring any sourcebook along that closely matches their character class or that they have relied on...

    101 Incantations

I guess I was thinking pretty much the same thing. Why would I go to all the trouble of performing this ritual? It does not appear to do anything for me at all, other than surround me with wraiths I can't control. If my point is to fill the countryside with wraths for sheer mischief, then I'm...

"sleeper" spells you didn't realize were so good

Rock On, Buzzard! I have this discussion with my players all the time. They are busy trying to figure out some real world physics to stretch an idea they are having. While I am busing rewarding creativity, some things get thrown out, not because you couldn't make some sort of logic case for...
