Oh, maybe it was R. Talsorian. I didn't actually own it, it was my friends. But god we had a lot of fun with that. I actually wrote a Pascal program in college to help make characters for it. I got to meet the designer behind HARP, and attempted doing some writing for them, but they weren't...

Quick, while everyone is focused on the 5.24 PHB...

I had a friend that went on and on incessantly about GURPS in high school, but I never played it. In 6th grade, my sister gave me the red box, which she had purchased, but never could figure out what to do with it. Nor could I. It wasn't for lack of trying. I loved reading it, but I never...

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

Ok yea, I think someone mentioned it way earlier in the thread. It's a Goodman Games DCC module (#34), that apparently has a Ravenloft feel to it. I put it on the list.

Also, I think you probably have this backward - the monstrous compendium entry probably came FROM the Horror's Harvest module. TSR liked to pull stuff from Dungeon magazine into official D&D products.

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

There are several Ravenloft Dungeon modules: The Price of Revenge (#42), Felkovic's Cat (#50), The Baron's Eyrie (#58), The Laughing Man (#52) (which I want to run), The House on the Edge of Midnight (#76), Horror's Harvest (the other one you're referring to) (#38), Last Dance (#64) (Which I...

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

As in, you've been waiting for this review? I liked the module, though wasn't sure I would just from a quick glance-through at first. It's not typically reviewed well, and is ultimately just a dungeon crawl, as many from this era are. But I did really like the setup. One review I read, and I...

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

Yep, I took a bit of a hiatus. Work and life was busy. But I forced myself into doing a few more reviews! Felkovic’s Cat (Dungeon #50) ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ This module has one of those names that make it sound like it could be good. Like, when you’re at a high school band concert and they program a...

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

I had forgotten about it, but @Stormonu (on pg. 13) had posted a 4e rewrite of Night of the Walking Dead way early in this thread. I wish I'd remembered to look through it, because it actually has some great encounters and ideas. I'll have to take a look through this before my next session.

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

Things have gotten busy, but my plan is to post an update, and some of my notes. Just a quick update, since you asked - my first two sessions were basically a rewrite of Bleak House. I was at least partially inspired by that module by starting my party out inside an asylum. The asylum in Bleak...

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

All that could be true, except in the first few paragraphs, it says as much: "One hundred years ago, Blake Ramsay (ok, apparently, I spelled it wrong), sailed from his home in Mordentshire toward the misty borders of the Sea of Sorrows. He and his family would find a new home, he had...

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

Certainly! I still have 3 more (that I know of!) to go - Felkovic's Cat (Which looks mostly terrible), Jigsaw (which is Masque of the Red Death module), and Fair Barovia (which is a 4th edition module from Dungeon #207!)

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

The House on the Edge of Midnight (Dungeon #76) ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ / ⭐⭐ This module, for 4th-6th level PCs, takes place on an unnamed island (referred to as simply “The Isle”). The premise here is simple – the PCs wash up on an unnamed, mostly abandoned island where, after scrambling ashore and up a...

    AD&D 1E Wilderlands experts?

I wouldn't hold my breath. But if money were no object to me, I'd buy the rights to the world and release under the Creative Commons.

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

Honestly, that might not be terrible, since there's like 4+ pages of backstory the PCs will never even learn.

You could leave her alive, I suppose. It might actually be better in some way, because then you would probably care more for the daughter in that case, and might even agree to try and redeem her, if you decide that's even possible. To do this, you'd end up making the Mom a quest-giver...

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

That seems like a much better option, and certainly paints her in a much more favorable light to the party, instead of having to sacrifice a mount (assuming they have them anyway). Without the girl, it's unlikely they'll meet the Mom. The encounter with the mom has to be massaged a little bit as...

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

#1 seems like a stretch, but #2 could be true, and I'm not saying it's likely that a party would kill her, just that they could, which basically derails the entirety of the module. Also, following the module along its stated path doesn't necessarily make it good, either.

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

Thank you, this 100%. Add in "she's barefoot in the snow" and "Surrounded by 6 pet wolves" and you've got yourself a villain absolutely deserving of being removed from the domain. Normally when the writer does this kind of thing, they say "If they attack this NPC, immediately roll a powers...

D&D General The thread where I review a ton of Ravenloft modules

The Price of Revenge (Dungeon #42) ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ This module, for 4th-6th level PCs, takes place in the cold valleys of Valachan. After 4 pages of dense backstory, the PCs arrive from the mists, presumably riding horses. That point is deemed as such both by the boxed text (which is copious) and the...
