    Magical items

This all depends on what type of campaign you want to play. I have always favoured a more low-key approach to magic items, trying to give reasons why the items the PCs find exist (especially weapons, which always had a history to them); makes it more personal when they find it. I like the idea...

Removing the enhancement bonuses from items

I've been thinking about this too. I want my next (4ed) campaign to be less 'magic items are everywhere' and more 'magic items are found in tombs etc', with an emphasis on the history of the item (i.e the legendary magical sword of a dead king, that sort of thing). I want to make items more...

    City Campaign Character Ideas

How about: a necromancer (or similiar) is obsessed with immortality, but doesn't want to go down the lich/undead route. Instead he seeks knowledge, buys rare magical or ancient tomes, searching for another way. Recently he came across an old tome that had everything you needed to know about...

D&D 4E Raiders of Oakhurst: A 4E Fan Playtest Adventure

I playtested this over the weekend, just to see how the mechanics of the game played out; tested it on my girlfriend who had never played any RPG before, let alone D&D. Going to play it with more people, with prior experience, next month. Overall, it went well. No one died (although by the end...

    The World of Iona

I've been slowly designing my own world of my 4th Edition campaign I plan to run in June, using the place names from the preview books. I haven't developed it much more than designing a world map and making a few notes, but I thought I'd share the map with you, just to see what people think...

D&D 4E What will your first 4E campaign look like?

I'm going to continue running my campaigns in the World of Greyhawk. I've ran or played most of my gaming life (25+ years) in that world and have a wealth of info running around in my head. Been slowly incorprating ideas from 4th Ed. (so far introducing the Shadowfell & the Shadar-Kai as...

What was so bad about DMing 3x?

My chief bugbear about DMing 3.x is the encounter building. With experience I've been able to manage it better, but the whole idea of 1 monster vs. 4 PCs was always a misplaced notion; much more fun to have multiple critters & when designing adventures I try to do this as much as possible...

What do they do with the copper and silver?

My players tend to take everything at low levels, but leave the 'poorer' coins alone when they're more powerful; unless they have plenty of space to put it all (bags of holding were surely made for copper coin hoards).

    Mechanical Features of Death

I think it looks ok, but playtesting will tell for certain. Treating them like feats is a good idea. Not sure about the Debt one. Maybe you could swap the half-air thing for a favour that needs to be paid at some point, perhaps working it into the story instead.
