Have you had any fun intros to a campaign.

I'll bite :) I once started off a game where the PCs were all waiting to see a mighty wizard, who they wanted to help them rid a cursed item or said curse. Each PC had either a curse or a cursed item/weapon; the wizard agreed to do this in exchange for the PCs going off to gather something for...

    Keep on the Chaos Scar

I love CrazyRed's art, it's not only useful, but looks cool!

    PHB3 In Hand...

I got the PHB3 this week too, from Orcs Nest in London. Haven't looked through it fully, but I did look at the Rune Priest and I liked it. I especially like some of the themed powers, such as the seven runes of death that go through various levels; and I also like the rune feats, which increase...

    Where Do You Game?

For my two games: My 4th ed. game is played online, at the computer (natch) in the lounge. Mt 3.5 ed. game is played in the basement of a pub in central London; the staff kindly allow us to play there even when it is closed off :)

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

Poor Piratecate, all his planning went to waste :( My experience of 4th ed. so far ha proven that a good team working well together can get through most encounters without too much trouble, especially if they are on full-power and it is a 1-day encounter.

    Scales of War finale!

Just read through it and I like the notes that accompany each encounter; bit more than the usual. Looks like a good end to a campaign too; and since I'm running this with my players (currently on the Lost Mines) it's good to have the path all completed so I can see where it is all heading.

Help with dressing up a combat

Let us know how it turns out :)

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

Now that's how to write up a racial description. It'll be interesting to see how the new guy fits in with the current team.

Help with dressing up a combat

Well, ideally give the necromancer some allies. Maybe parts of the tower's battlements animate as minions, stoney beasts that give the melee lot something to deal with while the flying necromancer fires and the ranged lot return fire. Use terrain too, maybe windy gusts that threaten to blow PCs...

Creative way to bring back dead PC?

I've just finished watching the old Conan movie, and in that there is a scene where Conan lies pretty much dead, and the magic user uses magic to bring him back... but first, Conan's allies have to fight off undead ghosts that are trying (I presume) to drag him off to the realm of the dead. So...

    Encouraging Player Curiousity

This is exactly what I did (see attached). Really worked well. Got the players more involved, there were comments on the PCs actions, and plot hooks too. And they want more!

Return to the monster's lair: what would YOU do?

What if, the beholder has his allies (the same ones that brought him his 'food') brought him some magical scrolls that animated the dead. That way you have a bunch of hanging undead bodies (treat as minions, mostly grab attacks) that not only act as difficult terrain, but also hinder the enemy...

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

Poor Toiva. Still, at least it was a heroic death, saving the party by keeping the beholder busy. I hope you go back and kick that monster's behind :)

I'll third it :) I wonder who died? Was it the cloakmaker?

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

That sounded like it was an excellent fight. The multiple actions, are they just story telling or where the characters pulling off more than one action per round? I do love this story hour. It's a novel in its own right, fun, exciting, and full of ideas. Thanks for sharing this with us over the...

    Reskinning Class Fluff

A friend of mine is playing an interesting reskin of a Wildren, erm, Shaman I think. Can't remember the class, but it is his race that's different: Essentially he is playing an intelligent swarm of bees that inhabit a mobile bush. Cool.

    Reskinning Class Fluff

This is exactly what one of my players has done. Created a hybrid rogue/druid warforged, and is essentially a transformer! It's a cool concept and works well. There's also a blog somewhere (I think Greywolf, can't remember) that refluffed the classes as noir-styled characters, which was a nice...

Sounds like a great session... love the hanging bodies as difficult terrain :) And looking forward to seeing how you escape this combat :)

    Mouse Guard, Anyone?

I bought Mouse Guard the other day (and the comics too, read one, on to the next) and I like it so far. Even if I don't get a chance to run it fully, there are plenty of ideas in it that I intend to port over to my D&D games. Not sure if my players would be up for this as much as D&D, but once...
