    You all start in a....

I once started off a campaign with the PCs each having a cursed item, or a curse (if I recall correctly, one was a cursed weapon, one a werewolf; the others I forget). They start off in the hall of a powerful wizard, who basically tells them in order to remove the curse they need to pay him by...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

Woo hoo! Update! Just had to go back and read the last couple of entries to remind myself what was going on. Looking forward to more, hint hint :)

    Online Roleplaying vs Traditional Roleplaying

I've been playing the 4th edition Scales of War arc using MapTools. We either use macros or roll dice (I trust my players not to cheat) and it is as quick as playing table top. Playing on-line tends to cut out the distractions playing at the table brings. And MapTools is free with plenty of...

    The Land of Black Glass

In a few weeks I am embarking on a new campaign (3.5 D&D) set in an home-brew world. I aim to start a story hour based on the adventures, to see if I can make something people will want to read. Here's the website I put together for the campaign: Land of Black Glass The roster of PCs hasn't...

The Land of Black Glass: Port Obsidian

Hallo everyone Just thought I'd share some maps and a link to the site of the campaign that I'll be running in a few weeks, 3.5 since no once is ready to chance to 4th ed. yet. I am hoping to produce a story hour out of this too, as I have never done that (at least not here) before & I'd...

What's so special about your homebrew?

My 4th ed. homebrew (see the maps here) takes the generic stuff from the core books, but the world is flat and was created by a god (Io,with help from Moradin) to use as a staging ground in the war against the primordials. At the centre of the world is a vast volcano, the Heart of the Gods...

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

I will do my best not to call you a fluffer ;) I like what you did with the races, nice plot hooks sprinkled in there. I especially like the doppleganger write-up, since one of the PCs is a shapeshifter. I do like this thread. Interesting, informative, and great ideas & thoughts. Thanks :)

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

Very nice piece of fluff, both race and the legion. That's one of the good things about 4th ed., the fact it is easy to re-flavour everything from races to powers, without touching the mechanics. Have you re-fluffed any of the other races in the campaign? In the 3.5 game I'm running I'm...

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

Question: how does PCat judge the 'do something cool' action. Just as an action, or using up a power too? Good write-up, as usual. Inspires & motivates me for my upcoming game :)

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

Sagiro, it's good to know that there will be future updates. I was beginning to think I'd never know what happened next; and after spendign a couple of weeks reading from the very beginning, I've come to know and love the characters; and it's helped inspire and knit together ideas for my own...

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

This deserves a bump. When can we expect the next update? I find this thread very interesting.

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

I second this bump! Although with Sagiro's commentary in PirateCat's game, maybe there just isn't time any more :( I am very interested in seeing how it all ends...

    PC names in your party

In the 3.5 Known World game I'm currently playing it, we have: Grimm Erikson (human barbarian) Lorna McDougal (human wizard, 13-year old girl) Cahlen (half-elf druid) Dragomir (half-orc monk) Varis Korrigan (human fighter/ranger) who also has a lizard tail In the 4th Ed. game I'm soon to be...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

Well, that's a cliff-hanger to leave us with. Just finished reading the whole lot, from the very start, all the way to here. It's taken weeks. But I've enjoyed every moment. This is a terrific campaign, excellent characters, and great players and DM too. I know this story-hour is a couple of...

Wow, you know your a roleplayer when...

The Symphony of Ages series by Eliabeth Haydon have a strong romantic element to them, and are very good too. And I know what you mean about rp-ing in a computer game. I sometimes get carried away when playing WoW.

    New Class: the aleamancer

I originally thought of going down this route, but was worried that it would look too much like a re-hash of the artificer class. A balance between the two could work, but I like your thoughts on it, and might try and do someone more like that with the next version.
