    D&D 5E (2014) Morale Rules?

Hints about how different monsters are prone to react would be nice, though. In 2nd ed gnolls had lower morale than orcs, making them prefer hit and run tactics, like hyenas, rather than all out charges. I like that.

D&D 5E (2014) I'm just sayin', the concentration mechanic makes it WAY easier to balance spells

The buff round will probably still be around. But it will be more like a single round, not several. Spellslingers will not need to prepare as many buff spells (good for the clerics), and many will probably want to go out with a concentration attack spell.

D&D 5E (2014) I'm just sayin', the concentration mechanic makes it WAY easier to balance spells

I can only agree. I played the finale in a Pathfinder campaign this very saturday. We had five buff rounds, and all I could think of was that 5e does away with them.

    D&D 5E (2014) Perception/Investigation/Medicine?

This is my take as well. In what manner are the characters going about it? That decides what skill to roll. And that enforces the roleplaying bits - a character with investigation will try to investigate things carefully. The elf will just try to take it all in with his senses.

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk 5e

I'm not really a fan of the Living Greyhawk books either. Fairly bland and, just that, a gazetteer. From the Ashes is a lot more interesting, and full of grimdark story ideas.

D&D 5E (2014) Shields and Somatic Components: Will you play it "as is?"

I used them, and will. Drawing or putting away a weapon does not cost much, after all. It does leave the cleric without a weapon to make an opportunity attack with after casting a spell.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monk Damage

Yes, she gets her damage bonus with her unarmed attacks. When she gets a bonus unarmed attack it is just like a normal unarmed attack. But I would not say it is the same as the Two Weapon fighting ability. A much more limited choice of weapons, for one thing.

D&D 5E (2014) I for one hope we don't get "clarification" on many things.

We have good brains at the table who know the specific situation and campaign. Let's use them. Many of the things people want 'clarification' of are not even rules things. What is a rule and what is a corner case? Invisibility should not be judged by someone who does not know what the...

D&D 5E (2014) Slow Rests: Anyone Tried It?

I also think, based on experience from pre-3rd ed playing, that minor encounters will be more interesting. Sure, we know that we'll beat those four kobolds and their ridiculous trap, but if we mismanage it it will cost us resources we will not get back in a while. That lost spell and 8hp will...

D&D 5E (2014) Slow Rests: Anyone Tried It?

A very interesting and simple way to do it. I like it a lot. Slowing down the tempo makes for more interaction with the world, immersion. I'd like a long rest to be a little variable, and depending on comfort. 5 days if out camping in a good safe spot. 3 days in reasonable comfort. Indoors...

    D&D 5E (2014) Falchion & Finesse?

The dothraki sword is about as close as you can get to a dacian falx. (From the Traian trophy monument in Romania commemorating the subjucation of the Dacians.)

    D&D 5E (2014) All About Backgrounds

Oh, sorry..... :o I just read the date... august 18th looked good. Nevertheless a good discussion to continue, or bring up again. More and interesting backgrounds would be good.

    D&D 5E (2014) Falchion & Finesse?

falchion, falx, etc. (and fauchard) all go back to sickles. And that would have been very evident in the middle ages for anyone with a smattering of latin or french. The elven glaive above actually looks a lot like a dacian falx. Except that on a falx the edge is on the inside. All the...

D&D 5E (2014) Where have all the fan made backgrounds gone?

It was when I couldn't find any in the homebrew section that I began to wonder. And reddit.... I've never gotten the hang of that :erm: Ah, didn't think of that.

D&D 5E (2014) Where have all the fan made backgrounds gone?

I predicted that there'd be a lot of threads about fan made backgrounds by now, but I seem to fail at Divination. So, where are they? I can only find the ones on the Hack & Slash blog. Surely there are many more?

    D&D 5E (2014) Falchion & Finesse?

Falchion (or, in latin, falx) has, through the ages, been used to describe various weapons. The dacians (enemies of Rome) were known for their forward curving two-handed pole arm-like falchions. And even mediaeval falchions came in bigger versions. This weird two-handed sword was (probably)...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the only purpose of a spellcasting focus to eschew common material components?

I must say that removing the material components just like that is extremely boring, and makes me wonder why there are material components in the first place. Requiring a spider to cast Spider Climb is awesome, and adds a lot of flavour*. Just whipping out a wand instead does not. What is a...

D&D 5E (2014) How Often Should Advantage Be Granted?

When the players are creative in a way that suits the genre. Advantage should be granted for different things if the DM (and other players) want a slapstick game than if they want a hardboiled Abercrombie story. And other things if it is wuxia. In Over the Edge characters get a bonus for...

Release D&D 5th Edition Release Schedules

It's missing the D&D: Attack Wing game and Icons of the Realms miniatures from Wizkids. http://wizkidsgames.com/dnd/ (Can't see the release date for Attack Wing, but I've seen it somewhere.)
