Wilden Name Poll! -- Forked Thread: PH3 Playtest Race: Wilden

Yeah, that's the way I say it too - will-dren. (Not that it has come up in any of our games yet, but in time it will.) (Though in our home games we might use a swedicized version, vilding, which is an existing swedish word meaning wild one.)

    Wotc Community Survey

I don't visit often, there's too much noise, and not much signal, but it always strikes me as a rather unfriendly place. I don't feel at all comfortable there. (And then again, Wizards have garbled my account (or, well, in WotCspeak, persona) so that I cannot use my old name. (Yes, I have been...

    2010: Is it Dragonlance? (hint)

No, no, it was much more recent, and specific. I'd hasard that it was less than a year ago, I'm fairly certain it was in a discussion about 4e and campaign worlds - could be here, or perhaps in one of the podcasts (one of the Noonan-Mearls Q&As?).

    OotS #663 up

Yay! Everyone together! Xykon picking up speed! Elan being silly! Belkar whetting his blades! (Well, I presume the last, what else would he do. Kill something and take their stuff?)

    2010: Is it Dragonlance? (hint)

Uh, Dragonlance. Not my choice. :erm: Oh, well, perhaps thay make something interesting for the PG. The setting is bland enough so that it could be used in about any other generic fantasy setting.

    2010: Is it Dragonlance? (hint)

I could be wrong, but I recall someone from Wizards mentioning it, a couple of years ago (here, I think). I may misremember, or it might have been that the collected settings didn't make any profit.

There is also the fact that they have stated that both seem to have cost more than they ever made. That could of course have been due to the rather excessive material, with expensive boxes with lots of material and maps, but still. I think we'll see some of the interesting bits of Planescape...

Planescape modules - which are any good?

Yeah, I managed to get it 'cheap', I don't know how, really. I think it was one of the lowest prices in a long time, and it still was U$50. I got lucky on the Planes of Conflict, in that I found one without a box (still almost pristine books) for very little.

If you can find a group that plays a pre-3.0 version of D&D or Retroclone would you:

I would only do it with the right people, because I'd play any game with the right people. I'd have no trouble playing older editions with my current groups, but noone feels like DMing them, nor is anyone particularily keen on playing. 4e is fine, for us. When we want to play something else...

Judging from the prices on eBay Dark Sun looks good. ;) (Not all of the modules, but the setting.)

IIRC correctly they talked about Ghostwalk, perhaps it was on a podcast? Anyhow, they said that they would hardly revisit Ghostwalk as a setting, possibly as part of some sort of sourcebook. I think Mearls said it had been a neat idea, bit not really enough for a campaign, and that perhaps the...

How should I get miniatures for my game?

One Monk Miniatures makes rather cute standup paper figures. Cartoony, but cute.

Need help coming up with weapon history ideas

It seems a bit weird to use a warhammer to make something else, in my eyes. But perhaps it's made from some material left over from the artifact? Or on the same forge, before whoever ordered the construction of the artifact killed the maker so that he would not be able to undo it?

Need help coming up with weapon history ideas

Segrada is perfectly right - backstory is cool, but backstory that foreshadows future events is awesome!

    2010: Is it Dragonlance? (hint)

It still seems like very minor changes to me, and most of it seems like setting specific fluff. But dragging a race/monster from a setting and making it generic - we have seen lots of that. Thri-kreen, anyone?

    2010: Is it Dragonlance? (hint)

Draconians are a good monster on it's own, they don't need their original setting. There are several other monsters out there that have stepped out of their settings. I, for one, cannot understand why dragonborn were not called draconians. I hope it'll not be Dragonlance - there is already...

Dragonlance? That must be in order to profit from the popularity gained from the movie, right?

The Changeling's complete stats are up for preview on the D&D facebook page. There's some other stuff there as well, mostly boring artificier stuff. ;)

    Breaking up the Crawl

I think it sounds very fun! Your players might be surprised and unfamiliar with the situation, but I think that creative use of scene framing and cut scenes are excellent! Get to the interesting parts, and tell the interesting stuff when it's relevant!
