    How I can use familiar

Scouting is the most common. They don't have attacks unless you somehow get a special familiar. Remember they can still make checks so potentially pick pockets and deliver your spells as their re-action.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Barbarian and Monk

The 3rd level benefit on the monk seems like a lot. Wisdom to attack, radiant damage, reach and it's monk weapon so extra attacks and flurry of blows. Uses up all your ki at early levels but it's a lot. By the time you get to 11th and get more big buffs, you can be using it multiple times per...

    Way of the Astral Body

https://media.wizards.com/2019/dnd/downloads/UA-WildAstral.pdf What do people think of this playtest path? I've always enjoyed monks and this seems to have some possibilities. As I read it, the Astral Arms are only weapons, so no grappling with them. The other features could be OK. A way to use...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Barbarian and Monk

So as written it looks like the arms are only a weapon not actual usable arms. So no grappling with them?

D&D 5E (2014) Counterspell what do people think?

I like Counterspell and find it plenty useful as it is. The rules allow a spellcaster to create a spell just like he can create a magic item. If your game allows players to do this, If you want a form of Counterspell that has more adverse effects, then I would consider making it a 4th level...

Life Cleric, Arcane Cleric or something totally different?

I enjoyed the Arcana cleric though we only got to level 9 with him. Played 15 year old cleric of Vecna who just graduated early from military school. 'With hard work, keen intellect and dedication.' cue incredulous look from the druid, '...familial name recognition, class privilege, bribery and...

    Druid Question

Kind of what I thought. I wouldn't expect a bear to be an Inspiring Leader in that form but if the druid has Grappler, Tavern Brawler or the like, then it makes sense that many beasts would be able to do that. Related question; are natural weapons like claws a melee weapon attack (similar to the...

    Druid Question

If your game uses feats. does your wild shape still benefit from them? For example; druid wild shapes into a bear, druid has the grappler feat. Does the bear's claw attack benefit?

    D&D 5E (2014) True Polymorph

Warlock doesn't get Shapechange, only Wizard or Druid.

    D&D 5E (2014) True Polymorph

Makes sense. It seems to imply though that although you get the creature's mental ability scores, you would still know your spells and be able to use them if you're in a form that can speak, make somatic gestures etc.

New Question. Can you use True Polymorph on yourself?

    D&D 5E (2014) Berserker Barbarians: Wait what?

I played the berzerker to 20th level and never had a problem. the 1st level of exhaustion is negligible but if you reserve frenzy for the tough fights you'll be OK. I had two levels of exhaustion once and we long rested after that. True you don't want to get hit by effects that cause exhaustion...

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's list the "broken" spells

Contagion doesn't take effect until the 3rd save is failed. That makes it almost useless in combat as opposed to broken the other way. Errata confirms that this is the correct interpretation. Wall of Force and Force Cage are potent, but they are high level spells and no one has many of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is disarming broken in D&D 5e?

I like the attackers interact with an object option. Kick away or pick it up with a free hand. A reason for the attacker to have a free hand. Now if we could get a good sunder rule. If the attacker has another attack, he could attack the now unattended object and possibly destroy it depending on...

D&D 5E (2014) How do you handle the "economy killing spells" in your game?

In my game every druid would have an interest in helping the farmers. We have a Drow druid right now who couldn't care less if the humans eat. Plus characters with powers like the characters are a a rare occurrence. Consider how many in an army are warriors proficient with the equipment that...

D&D 5E (2014) Need help for character build

On the Role playing side, you could also have quests using speak with the dead where your character tries to persuade them to willingness to come back.

D&D 5E (2014) Need help for character build

Make him wait until he can use wish. Then he doesn't have limitations. The effect that he wishes for just instantly happens. You could also do it as a cleric with Divine intervention. In a magical fantasy world, you can find a way.

D&D 5E (2014) Potions of spells which require concentration

Drinking the potion of Invisibility is like having the spell cast on you. The imbiber isn't concentrating. It still ends when an action is taken or an attack made which would end it. Any caster with the spell and a proper area to work can make potions. This gives a good reason spend the gold and...

D&D 5E (2014) Starting new campaign.... rolled good stats, help me pick a character!

I think this array lends itself well to a bard. You have decent scores in a lot of skills and a good charisma. If variant human is your choice maybe go with Inspiring leader and put your stat bump on charisma. Bard is the classic; I can't decide what to play class and you get a lot of...
