New SCAG Info: Someone Got The Book

My main beef is how broken Bladesingers are. Holy frijole! Trances back after a short rest! AC higher than the Palladin (before adding +5 sporadically with Shield spell for complete ridiculousness)! Bonuses to concentrate checks! Extra movement! Extra attack like a fighter! WotC went...

    D&D 5E (2014) Monk Weapons

And your experience is different then mine. :) My only beef with the Mobile feat is that the ignoring of difficult terrain only counts when actively dashing and a lot of difficult terrain can be handled by simply leaping it as the end of your movement.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monk Weapons

Versatile simply means that the damage goes up a die when it is used two-handed. Two-handed property means that you have no choice but to use it with both hands at all times (which precludes the use of the shield).

    D&D 5E (2014) Monk Weapons

Umm...+1 to all unarmed and monk weapon attacks damage, +1 to hit with all such attacks, and +1 to AC is far superior to an extra 10ft of movement in a class that hands out extra movement regularly. Just sayin'...

D&D 5E (2014) Reflecting on advantage and disadvantage.

So the DMG has an optional rule that basically gives everyone Pack Tactics?

D&D 5E (2014) The most important roll you will ever make

Drat and double drat! At least you can say it took the lot to take you down... ;)

D&D 5E (2014) The most important roll you will ever make

I agree. The Death Save mechanic is a really good way to handle it and is a great addition to the ruleset. Bummer about your character! Was it a good death?

D&D 5E (2014) Out of the Abyss: Underdark as Favored Terrain

Was this before or after you mentioned, or they searched the internet, the campaign was going to be in the Underdark? If it was after, I would definitely have a discussion with that player about metagaming and how it can ruin the tone of the adventure.

    D&D 5E (2014) Disintegrate Vs. Druid

And I agree 100%. The most frustrating thing to me is that it's been this way with every thread I have read his comments from. Just a shame, really.

    D&D 5E (2014) Disintegrate Vs. Druid

You know, I really don't like ignoring people. I generally feel that everyone has a valid point and input to add to pretty much any discussion. That being said, the fact that you're arguing the point about a potentially poorly written text that you don't even agree with is... *deep breaths*...

    D&D 5E (2014) Disintegrate Vs. Druid

If the total damage is greater than the combined remaining hit points of the shape and the Druid ...well, it's time to whip out your Gnomish Dustfighter(tm) and hope the caster of Disintegrate doesn't follow up by casting Gust of Wind.

D&D 5E (2014) Reflecting on advantage and disadvantage.

We just finished Tiamat after a year of play and I never got tired of the advantage/disadvantage mechanic. It strips the mechanics to their blunt essence and stops the aforementioned "bennie hunting" that 3.5 was chock full of.

    D&D 5E (2014) Anti-insperation

I wouldn't bother. There are all sorts of story-based ways to put the screws to them instead.

D&D 5E (2014) GWF vs. TWF Fighting styles

I feel that I have too add that the TWF half-orc Barbarian/Ranger in our Tiamat campaign was absolute Death Machine (tm). While I certainly agree that the math says GWF is better overall, in the grand scheme of things I probably wouldn't have noticed in play.

D&D 5E (2014) GWF vs. TWF Fighting styles

Thanks, Kryx! I had a bad feeling it would when it got mentioned in the group Hangout. Not really sure how it helps balance the game as my single-weapon Paladin had zero issues with cranking out redunkulous damage without the Dualist fighting style, but Oh Well...

D&D 5E (2014) Who's played 5e to high level? How was the variable progression rate in play?

We play about once a month for a good 8-9 hours. We averaged about a level a session or so all the way through. Had a few where we didn't level and a few where we leveled twice. Nothing too onerous about gaining levels. It was a great overall experience.

D&D 5E (2014) Who's played 5e to high level? How was the variable progression rate in play?

We actually had more problems fighting two young green dragons than fighting a single ancient green dragon. I think our group of 7 punked down the great wurm in about 6 rounds, IIRC.

D&D 5E (2014) GWF vs. TWF Fighting styles

Since we're on the topic, one of the players in our group is assuming that the rerolls are also available with associated Smite dice. Is this the case?
