    Slaine

It is a great game. But like some previous posters: I haven't gotten around to dming it either. It's next on our list though. As soon as we finish our current campaign we'll kick off the invulnerable king. As all my players are fans of the graphic novels (too bad the 200AD comics seem hard to...

    What setting would you recommend?

Two words: "Castle Falkenstein" (Space 1899 being a close second.)

    My first attempts at mapping

For some reason, I liked your first map better. Maybe it's because there are less geographical features on this map, which make the icons stand out a bit. And made the first region more interesting and appealing. And the border keep itselfs seems a bit out of proportion on this map, shouldn't it...

    A world with no money

Phew. The basic idea is you can't have more enech than twice your level. For the rest, it's a bit up to the GM what to do with it. I look at it as an extra statistic defining social standing. And helps in ruling who gets the best piece at dinner, ... The rules give guidelines on gaining and...

    A world with no money

Fennes, how do you handle character creation? Especially in Shadowrun, where gear is a big component of the game.

    A world with no money

You might want to check out the Slaine RPG from Mongoose. This is a prehistoric setting with a Celtick baskdrop. There is a currency system based on chickens, pigs, cows and cumals (female slaves) Barter is the norm of course. Your standing in society is your "Enech" (litt: face) Everybody...

    My first attempts at mapping

Thanks for these replies, very useful. (Sorry for hijacking your thread, EK) Actually, your comments put most of the negative reactions to CC2 in perspective. Not being intuïtive enough is the most heard comment, followed closely by "real men don't need manuals else the product is flawed." I...

    My first attempts at mapping

The result looks fine to me. While we're at it, I've recently started looking at some mapping software, but can't really make up my mind. CC2 is apparently the most popular suite, but I've been reading some reviews and messageboards, stating it has a steep and front loaded learning curve. How...

    disarm

Thanks Hong, it all makes perfect sense now. But would the player get an AoO when his opposed attack failed and the archer tried to disarm him?

    disarm

Hi all, When an attacker tries to disarm you, he draws an AoO. I guess only the defender can make an AoO? If he fails, the defender may attempt to disarm him. Does this again draw an AoO and if so, who can make an AoO against the defender. My guess would be no because it's not really an action...

    [OT]Good bye for a while

Okay, here's the boring fact: The Vendée is a region in central France. I believe it's a rather forrested area. Oh, and it was the center for royalist resistance during the French revolution.

WoT: Prophecies of Dragon: what's in it?

Well, it is a trilogy: you can happily stop reading after book three in which Rand faces the dark one and wins.

Slaine: My First In-Depth Review (need feedback ;-)

It's a great review and I totally agree with most of your points. But the in-depth nature of your format makes it a bit harder to read. This makes it a better review and if I was thinking about buying the game, your review would be really helpfull. But if I was just checking out the reviews for...

WoT: Prophecies of Dragon: what's in it?

It's old news. Go look it up on www.wotmania.com It's supposed to be a story explaining how and why Moiraine and Lan went to the Two Rivers, a story about Tam on dragonmountain (which might actually be cool if RJ would be so nice as to give us a big battle) and a third I can't remember. I...

WoT: Prophecies of Dragon: what's in it?

If you replace "run a game" in this scentence with "read a book" you actually have a decent review of the last few books in the series! :) :(

    Game Snacks

Healthy bunch, aren't we? Chips and salted nuts are still nr 1. Washed down with diet coke and the odd experimental bottle of liquids. Kebab is also pretty popular for the bigger appetite, followed closely by pizza. (We don't consider Pizza Hut pizza pizza) We have tried healthy snacks on...

    Pringle alert!(ot, game snacks!)

My wife used to be a nurse in the other plant in the world where pringles are made. No storms over here, so if you start showing withdrawal symptoms, let me know, maybe we can work something out.;)

As a DM, how do you handle movement on a square grid?

Okay, I'll bring it up next friday. I still have some reservations, but at least I think we should give it a spin. Interesting thread by the way. I had no idea this even was an issue. Thanks.

As a DM, how do you handle movement on a square grid?

1 square=5feet of movement. I agree with those who say that diagonal movement measures longer. But using grid movement is a representation, not the actual movement. If you want your movement to be spot on, don't use grids, measure distances. Placing a miniature in a square is not the exact point...

    beginning mini painter needs tips!

To the "as cheap as possible" painters: DIP The following link gives a technique that will allow you to get great results with a minimum of effort. Essentially you block in all the colors and then dip your mini in a dark stain, shake or clean of excess stain et voila. Worth a try...
