Seminar Transcript - Class Design: From Assassins to Wizards

I think we can get beyond this if we get rid of the expectation or notion that characters who have different abilities or different ways of accessing those abilities make it harder on the DM to run the game. It doesn't seem any harder when there's a fighter, monk, wizard and cleric at a table...

Seminar Transcript - Class Design: From Assassins to Wizards

This came up in the seminar, but the wizard had a spell or (fire lance or flame lance I believe) that I think did 1d6 points of damage on a hit. It was usable every round. I think this was a spell feat that gave him that option, but it was he picked up at level 1. So it doesn't look like you'll...

Seminar Transcript - Class Design: From Assassins to Wizards

We can't really do that without exposing the text of the spell and all sorts of other information that we can't get into now. For the time being, how about we assume that these guys understand that math isn't the only thing to look at (because they do understand that) and that this was a quick...

Seminar Transcript - Class Design: From Assassins to Wizards

Can you, or anybody actually, point me to the article where Mike says that? My head is swimming with lots of official and unofficial news and I can't recall this one.

Seminar Transcript - Class Design: From Assassins to Wizards

I'm not sure we said or wanted to say anywhere that that fighter was just dpr all the time. Currently, the plan is for fighters to have options that help them change and manipulate the battlefield if they want to build that way. As to the quadratic wizard, linear warrior thing - the guys knows...

Seminar Transcript - Charting the Course: An Edition for all Editions

Yeah you've got it right Plane Sailing. It was more about looking at the ranger and seeing where he falls. The idea is that you could build a ranger like aragorn, or if you like a two weapon style ranger or a beast companion style ranger, you could build those as well. That discussion point was...

Seminar Transcript - Charting the Course: An Edition for all Editions

It should be something like "are not covered by the rules" but I missed the key word there with all the blogging. Sorry for that one.

    Legends and Lore 2011 Compilation

I just wanted to pop in to let you guys know that I read over and compile reports on these every week, along with a lot of other conversationson the site. I just don't always have the time to pop in and say something, and when I do, it's usually just to clarify something. So yeah, you're being...

    Typo or deliberate?

Wow, while Crown of Stars is unique and a bit confusing, I'm a bit surprised at the amount of back and forth it's caused this time around, but maybe that's because I've made so many assumptions about the power over the years :P I went over what I thought the correct interpretation was for Crown...

    Rule-of-Three 10/24/2011

But if you did that, and then gave the weapon to another tiny creature, he would use it as a one-handed improvised weapon. I think that last sentence gets the meaning across pretty well; anything bigger than tiny uses it as an improvised one-handed weapon.

    Mordenkainens Weapon Emporium ??

I posted this over on the Wizards community, but saw this conversation going strong over here and thought it would be good to share. I've seen a couple people say things like "most of MME is reprinted stuff" or "there's a lot of reprinted stuff" so I just wanted to step in and give some actual...

D&D 5E (2014) Scooping morrus on the site

I wouldn't ;) But in that case, I also wouldn't come on and clear up anything at all - I'd just stay silent.

D&D 5E (2014) Scooping morrus on the site

Just wanted to pop in to eliminate any confusion. While I can understand where this kind of thing is coming from with all the theory-crafting that goes on, especially before GenCon, we talked about all the points/topics that we planned on In the seminars and interviews at the con.

4e: big change in essentials: no more daily powers!

The essentials products don't change the rules of D&D (again, beyond adding the updates into the rules compendium), so both, or either would be a correct response.

4e: big change in essentials: no more daily powers!

Hey guys. So before I get into this I want to point out that most of what I'm about to say, Mike or others here have already said, but I figured I'd come in and offer my clarifying points. One of the first ideas behind Essentials was to change D&D in a way that was easier for new players to get...

101 ways to increase the MMO experience in 4th edition

    51) You have to run back to town and pay someone to teach you abilities when you level. It takes no time, but more money as you go up. (wasn't something like this in older editions?) 52) New classes are released, but you can only play one if you go to the store and show proof that you've maxed...

    Future of D&D Miniatures

Well, the Beholder pack is going to be pretty rare - on par with the From the Vaults from Magic, so you might be disappointed if you're not on the ball this time around. We running that delicate balance of trying to get it into a lot of people's hands while making it a must have/slightly hard to...

    Future of D&D Miniatures

Looking over a few things at the start of this thread, I thought I'd pop in and give my two coppers. An Essential's line of miniatures that is evergreen and includes a lot of classic monsters wouldn't be really cost effective if we sold it all as one package (like the tile sets will be). But...

Does D&D have a Brand Manager?

Yeah, I'm with everybody on this one - I'd love to have those templates in the MB so I can flavor my monsters. We are working on some things that are taking up a lot of our time, which is one of the reasons you haven't seen updates like this - but that's all hush hush for now. More info coming...
