    Identifying Magic Items

I didn't mean for it to seem like the Bardic Knowledge check would have a higher DC than the knowledge check at the same step, if that's what you meant? I edited the post to reflect that better.

    Identifying Magic Items

I've always had problems with how to let PCs identify magic items in the games that I've run, and I've never settled on one specific way. What I want is for the process of identifying magic items to be as simple as possible - because it is otherwise a hassle - but I don't want to just give away...

SPOILERS - Specific Questions about Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

I'm currently running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft for my group, and I have a few questions for anyone who has either played the adventure all the way through, or DMs that have run it, though not necessarily to completion. 1) I'm not using the Weapons of Legacy rules, so the Sunsword and the...

How do you store your Dungeon Tiles?

I just bought one each of all the Dungeon Tiles, and immediately after opening them and looking at them I thought "How am I going to store these?" So those of you that use them, how do you store them? My first thought was to get a 3-ring binder and some plastic paper holder things. It would...

If you have a Dex penalty, does that apply to your Flat-Footed AC?

Wow, that's awesome! Great cite... I agree!

If you have a Dex penalty, does that apply to your Flat-Footed AC?

So, are you saying that p8 makes the ruling not make sense, and you're going with the opposite?

If you have a Dex penalty, does that apply to your Flat-Footed AC?

So you're citing the "more specific trumps more general" rule?

If you have a Dex penalty, does that apply to your Flat-Footed AC?

That was also my line of thinking, until I thought "Well, the same person could be so clumsy, and therefore random or erratic (on accident) that they could just as easily blunder AWAY from an attack."

If you have a Dex penalty, does that apply to your Flat-Footed AC?

Man, you really put it into perspective. The only thing I don't agree with is the above. I think the Dex 12 guy DOES act faster than John Doe - in the form of an initiative bonus received from his higher Dex.

If you have a Dex penalty, does that apply to your Flat-Footed AC?

"It lists what your Dexterity modifier applies to; one of the bullet points is: Armor Class (AC), provided that the character can react to the attack." This carries no weight?

If you have a Dex penalty, does that apply to your Flat-Footed AC?

I agree with the first part. How bad you are at dodging attacks shouldn't have any effect when you're not trying to dodge.

If you have a Dex penalty, does that apply to your Flat-Footed AC?

Still, you're standing there, you're not actively defending yourself because you haven't reacted to the attack, as per Hypersmurf. The dex penalty comes from the fact that you're really not good at defending yourself, but if you're not trying...? I agree, it would be better to be flatfooted...

If you have a Dex penalty, does that apply to your Flat-Footed AC?

Really? So, you're standing there. Not defending yourself. And you get attacked. The only thing between you and the attack is your armor. And though you're not trying to dodge the attack, your ability to dodge attacks still applies? This has come up because I have a Paladin with a -1 Dex...

    No multiclassing penalties?

I don't think I agree with that. +2 in saves is not a big deal - you can get that from a single feat (people might argue that feats are precious, but its still only one feat, and not a string of feats or something) Also, I think incredibly powerful characters is a bit of an overstatement...

NAIL! Always coming through (no pun intended). That's why I like you.

    No multiclassing penalties?

I would almost be convinced, except for the fact that 33 people have voted yes, but none have supported their choice. I'd like to see some opinions from the other side of the argument, as well. So far its been a bunch of people agreeing with each other about how it doesn't really need an XP...
