D&D 3.x - Is It Too Easy To Hit Things?

I think you've got to look at the bigger, balanced picture, which happens to include equipment as well. The game has mechanics so that your equipment scales as you level, as part of your wealth. What I mean is that someone has an Amulet of Natural armor by level 12. Because of this, your AC...

Does damage from a touch attack ignore Damage Reduction

From Dictionary.com... Negate, verb - 1) to nullify or cause to be ineffective; Progress on the study has been negated by the lack of funds. 2) To make ineffective or invalid; nullify. 3) make ineffective by counterbalancing the effect of; This action will negate the effect of my...

What are the Differences between High-Fantasy and Futuristic/Cyberpunk Games?

I've been really interested in running a Cyberpunk campaign ever since I read Neuromancer (and have been reading other cyberpunk books since then), and I've been slowly forming a basis for a Cyberpunk campaign that I will eventually run. However, I've never run anything other than D&D, and its...

Can somebody tell me what Wraithstrike does?

The spell does mention changing the resolution of the damage, because it changes how damage is resolved by making it a touch attack. Since DR does not negate touch attacks, and DR normally has an effect on how damage is resolved, now damage is resolved differently because it is a touch attack...

Can somebody tell me what Wraithstrike does?

That's... true. I guess. In a sense, I mean. If we say that A = B, then we say that B = C, you can infer that A = C, even though it doesn't explicitly say that A=C. So even though the spell says that it only affects the attack, we can infer that it has an effect on the damage as well, at...

Can somebody tell me what Wraithstrike does?

That's a very good point. Does Wraithstrike say "Your attacks become touch attacks"? Or does it say something like "You can make your melee attacks as though they were touch attacks"?

Does damage from a touch attack ignore Damage Reduction

Ok, so, let me see if I can ask this clearly... Damage reduction reduces physical damage that you take. You get hit with a sword, you take less damage. It does NOT reduce physical damage taken from a spell like shocking grasp. You get touched by a wizard with shocking grasp, and you get...

Can somebody tell me what Wraithstrike does?

That doesn't say "Touch attacks bypass DR" though. I agree that its poorly worded, though. I would just think that if "DR does not negate bla bla bla" meant "Bla bla bla all bypass DR" then it would say that.

Can somebody tell me what Wraithstrike does?

I don't think we're really doing that. But, if you think we are and you don't want to be involved, ignore this thread. Those are more debates - this is more of a discussion.

Which class is the most useless?

I voted Ranger. They just can't do anything, really. Whoever voted Druid and Cleric... :( I'm not surprised about the Bard hating, but I am surprised about the Monk hating. Caster-killer extraordinare is useless? Abilities that you can't just get from feats? I might agree with the idea...

Does damage from a touch attack ignore Damage Reduction

It's being applied in the sense that DR does not just negate a touch attack because its a touch attack. Damage reduction reduces physical damage to a lower value unless that damage is being done by a source that DR does not apply to, for instance DR 10/silver. You never see DR 10/touch...

Can somebody tell me what Wraithstrike does?

Well, I just thought that's what was decided I guess. I also hadn't noticed the poll that was open about it, but did just now! I guess you're referring to the part about the "damage reduction does not negate touch attacks" part? Edit: The DMG doesn't say that touch attacks bypass DR, does it?

Does damage from a touch attack ignore Damage Reduction

Sorry if most of this has been said already, but... I voted "Other", and here is my explanation! "Whenever damage reduction completely negates the damage from an attack, it also negates most special effects that accompany the attack, such as injury type poison, a monk’s stunning, and injury...

Can somebody tell me what Wraithstrike does?

I thought that debate was kind of over. Not that I have a particular opinion, but I thought the consensus was that touch attacks don't bypass DR. I know there was something like "what the...!?" when it was first brought up, but rather quickly squashed...

There are threads about this spell that I want to read, but lack the motivation because I don't know what it does and don't want to sift through all the posts to find one that just tells me, so... Can someone just tell me what it does?
