RPG Evolution: Please Play With Me?

About 12 years ago I moved from a city I lived in since 1983, my sophomore year of high school. I had a regular Sunday gaming group (playing for decades with some changes in group members) and I didn't want to stop playing with them, so I bought Fantasy Grounds and we have been playing ever...

Has anyone else seen The creator?

Any sci-fi movie that isn't part of an already existing IP is something I am willing to give a shot.

you have 60 seconds to grab whatever you can around you before you are instantly teleported back in time 1,000 years, what would you grab?

I have no survival skills so preferably more Irish whiskey than my body can handle. Also my telescope, the night sky would be amazing compared to what I can see now.

    Unpopular opinions go here

I would generally agree with you, except for Thor: Love and Thunder. It had some good bits in it, but I think it's the worst Marvel movie made so far. Eternals might have been better if it were a TV show where it had a more time to flesh out all of its ideas but it didn't, so it wasn't very good.

    Unpopular opinions go here

My unpopular opinion on how to define an RPG is to start by having video games not included in the definition.

    Unpopular opinions go here

I guess I should clarify, I didn't find the books interesting. That's what I was trying to express when I said they were boring (to me). It's also not a shallow take. Once again, if I can paraphrase myself, not everyone is going to, or should, find the same things interesting.

    Unpopular opinions go here

I tried to read the Lord of the RIngs books 3 times. Once as a kid, once in my 20s and once in my early 40s and the furthest I got was halfway through the first book. It wasn't that I didn't try to dig in, they were just boring. I read a wide variety of books; some are easy reads some are more...

What Game Systems Do You Have?

Probably around 15 - 20 physical copies of games. I got rid of most of mine years ago and the only reason that I have that many is because since trimming my collection down to around five or so I will occasionally pick up a new game to read the rules. In PDF I have far more than I am willing to...

D&D General Should D&D Be "Hard"

I think it's a yes and no answer. An adventure should have a fair number of easy encounters (not deadly) some that are tough (a possible chance of death), and the occasional/rare hard encounter (play smart or die). You don't want to ruin the players fun by killing them off constantly but there...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

I don't doubt that streaming as part of a subscription service versus VOD can let us make assumptions about income generated. However, I'm not sure you are using "precise language", I think you are making errors in your language usage. Streaming, as I pointed out before, is delivering media over...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

So you believe he rented it on Prime without watching it? Streaming allows users to watch or listen to media over the internet without downloading it. Renting, or VOD, is paying to stream a specific movie or TV show rather than having it included in the cost of some streaming service. It's all...

    How Do I Escape D&D?

My group is so oblivious to rules systems that I could easily do this (they rely on me to tell then the rules generally). I wouldn't, but I could.

Waffles vs. Pancakes vs. French toast: Which is best?

All are awesome but Frech Toast rocks. Lemon curry is pretty good too....

    Do you read manga?

I mostly read American comics but a long time ago I went through a manga phase.

Streaming Services: First 2023 POWER RANKINGS (And what's up with Prime?)

I agree with you (about the part I quoted, I don't know enough about Rowling to have an informed opinion) and I wholeheartedly agree with former Justice Brandice when he said, among other things, "the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence.”. While I admit this will not always...

D&D General D&D Book Prices Are Going Up

Please do go on... If you don't understand why I didn't get something from your original post that I responded to then I suggest you go reread it. When I track back our back and forth to the original post I responded to, you only addressed pay. It's when I disagreed with your premise that you...

D&D General D&D Book Prices Are Going Up

You choose an interesting way of quoting my post. You quote the beginning and the end and then do me the favor of giving me the benefit of the doubt and "assume you [I ] 1) made a mistake/type, and 2) are still unaware of your [my] mistake/typo." while not bothering to quote the middle of my...

D&D General D&D Book Prices Are Going Up

Nope, not making a moving target argument. I suggested a more reasonable number to get a better sample size for your argument because a sample size of one is generally considered a poor sample size. Before attempting to apply logical fallacies to rebuttals you need to make sure your original...

D&D General D&D Book Prices Are Going Up

I would recommend randomly clicking on 30 counties around the country and see if that holds for all of them (or even most). In many places that would be bare subsistence living, if that.
