I've been neglecting my character requests for the last few weeks because of school, work and the elusive Emerald Sage, which seems to only have me as an artist.. sigh.. and I'm also the 'art director' but that title means very little in that situation.

Well I also invest in nice Sakura pens. They're expensive but come in a varying point range for outline and detail work.. I used to do a lot of work waiting for birds as well, but the dust always got into my sketch pads and the pencils got lost alot. So I suspended most of my flightline...

The only other observation I can see on most of your posted pencil stuff is that you look to be using only a #2 pencil. You'd be amazed how much change having a nice set of graphic pencils can do for your shading and line depth. You can only get a certain range from a standard pencil...

Overall I think you have a great and personal style UnD. My only suggestion is to keep at it. Your anatomy can be off a bit for comic and fantasy work if it fits your style, but it needs to be presented concisently in your works. Your line/inkwork is great, but I'd love to see some shaded depth...

That technique and the smudge stick are the two most overused by starting illustrators... I agree crosshatching is appropriate in cloth and fabric. I tend to use contour in my flesh.. circular shading to soften and accentuate the musculature.

Can't test out of them for my Bachelors.. so I'm taking them:) BTW I just added the pic to my gallery.. I figure if I have to do the work I might as well be creative.

Evening.. just finished my Perspective homework.. 2-point perspective.. yawn.. I guess I should not complain these beginning art courses are easy 'A's to get my GPA up. Once I move into the harder 3d based stuff I might actually have to work hard.
