    Magic Users too Tough??

hmm.. fighter without magical gear? Ok then. Human fighter 1st: (human) Sacred Vow (level) Vow of Poverty (fighter bonus) combat expertise (exalted) nymphs kiss 2nd: (fighter bonus) improved trip (exalted) knight of stars 3rd: (level) Mage Slayer 4th: (fighter) pierce magical protection...

mithral breastplate vs. adamantine chain shirt

enhancement to dex, inherant to dex, and, if you can get away with it, reduce or compression (a double compression would be very interesting for an AC boost! Such an item would be costly, but it could be possible to have a constantly active one if you try hard enough.. talk about a boost to your...

Shirt of False Life - Reasonable?

Personally I'd probably make the cost 25k and allow it to be activated as a swift action or make it 42k and make it an immediate action. Or at least allow for the option ;) Makes it an interesting choice to pick up. Of course, I might also shift it over to vigor so that it is only good for a...

    LA+1. Can you be a 0-level character?

Commoners have spot as a class skill, not all classes have that as a class skill ;) Personally, I dont like LA races. I would find a way to make the class have 0 LA and then go from there.

    AoO and Cleave

There are many, many different actions that people could take which will be beneficial or potentially harmful in some fashion, no matter if they are allies or not. Why is this one so special? At least this particular one takes special training in order to take advantage of, others just being...

    Vitriolic Sphere (Complete Arcane) Question

I think it would still be better as a 4th or 3rd level spell really. Maybe shorten the range to medium to make it third level (and of course changing the maximum damage potential, but that is a matter of it being a different level spell). Looking at 5th level spells there are things like...

    Vitriolic Sphere (Complete Arcane) Question

The actual spell text seems to be pretty clear. The short hand is just that, short hand, and after reading the spell text it makes sense. Burst for damage, make a save to negate future damage. If you fail then you get more saves for half damage for some future time, if you succeed then no more...

    Shadow Conjuration question

Definately. Especially since when they fail their save then it 'is' real from their perspective. You know that you are conjuring shadowstuff, but if you believe hard enough then it works just like a real X. So, believe it is real strongly enough and it is ;)

    AoO and Cleave

If you think of it not as someone being punished for anothers actions and instead a person having very special training in order to take advantage of certain situations I think it clears things up nicely. I havent seen any balance issues and it makes the system move smoother if it is allowed...

    [Eberron] Revisiting Warforged

It does seem a little expensive for what it does.. But I guess it does protect against certain breath weapons and the like. I havent checked older editions in awhile, didnt it used to be about 50k and protect against a whole pile of things? Much like the 'Adapt Body' power of the psion...

    [Eberron] Revisiting Warforged

Note that healing the warforged is twice as expensive and takes twice as long as well. Sometimes 'time' matters and having to spend 15 rounds healing the party instead of 10 could mean the difference between life and death, or perhaps a few rounds of extra readiness of the foes. Later on it'll...

    Boost Combat Expertise with Shields

One would hope it is extremely useful, it costs enough! Still though, of the two situations you mention neither are very likely in the d&d world.. in fact, they are highly campaign specific basically hoping for low skilled foes and/or very small corridors with people who cannot get past and yet...

    Point Buy

start at a score of 8 1 point for each point up to 14 2 points for 15 and 16 3 points for 17 and 18 so 16 points for an 18. As a human paly who has access to complete divine and complete warrior (not mentioned, so I'll just assume ;) ) I would go for an 16 charisma. 22 point buy points left...

    [Eberron] Adjusting Warforged

if you would like to start a thread in rules I'd love to hear more about your experiences and try to see what the issue is.. but overall using extra healing costs more resources and more time, you only have so many healing spells in a given day after all.. and the overall stat penalty makes me...

    Boost Combat Expertise with Shields

Then your arguement seems to be that the houserule would make shiled users who pick up combat expertise too good at defending themselves. But, again, all it does it give a boost of between +0 and +5 over the norm. It makes sword and board fighters tougher overall. A maxed out shield wearing...

    [Eberron] Adjusting Warforged

+2 to str, negate the wisdom penalty, and give them the choice of one of the following: bonus fighter feat, one of the warforged feats, or +1 spellcasting to the first spellcasting/manifesting class that they take (as in, treated one level higher for all spell/power purpose, just like the...

    Boost Combat Expertise with Shields

Actually, it doesnt. All it does is make it easier to use. Overall though the power level of the feat is still pretty low. Considering that with many touch attacks you still get your full attack bonus I'd say it would be difficult to get to the 'can only hit on a 20' with what you have listed...

[FROSTBURN] The Ritiik -- Too Good?

So you have to hit, then they have to fail a reflex save (I guess that is what the DC above was for?), then they make a trip, and I suppose they could also attempt a counter trip? It sounds like the biggest problem was the spell resistance problem and the party not being able to deal with reach...

    Boost Combat Expertise with Shields

Considering that in order to use it you have to use a shield I dont consider it terribly free. At least no more free than the power attack bonus with a 2 handed weapon. Comparing with dodge is a pretty poor comparison though I think. It doesnt take any extra sacrifice beyond the feat itself...

[FROSTBURN] The Ritiik -- Too Good?

I am not sure what the 'group proficiency' is so I will ignore it for now. I also do not know the all of the weapons abilities are, but I'll make a few assumptions ;) First off, it sounds like an exotic weapon and so would take a feat. On a successful hit you get to make a free trip attempt...
