    Human Invoker, Level 4

Right... but no class gains powers at 4th level, only a feat and ability score adjustments. Making a 4th level Druid or Invoker is possible from just the preview material, can't go any higher, though.

Mearls on Controller design and At-Will balance

My personal tweaks I made based on the recent controller powers: Magic Missiles - renamed "Magic Missiles". Range 20, targets one or two creatures no more than 3 squares apart. Int vs. Ref, 1d6+Int damage. At 21st, targets one, two, or three creatures no more than 3 squares apart, 2d4+Int...

    Improving "slowed"

For the longest time, I thought the slowed condidition already prevented shifting... :p It certainly made slowing an enemy that's already in melee with you or your allies...

    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

Don't forget Druids, they don't get Chain, but they can choose to use their Con mod for their AC... Probably more expectations than anything. I personally was expecting (well... more hoping, I suppose) the Invoker to be a 4e version of the Archivist. The notion of what a controller is (and with...

    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

For single [W] powers, sure, they are basically the same thing. But... (as I'm sure you are aware) the real value of the increase weapon die comes from the fact that it is multiplied by the many multi [W] powers... a flat +1 will still only be +1 on a 2[W] or 3[W] power, but increase a daily...

    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

Several of the at-wills of this class are insane... Grasping Shards - This one's the biggest offender IMHO. Take the best part of Ray of Frost (the slowing effect), make it an area burst 1 instead of single target, change the damage type to one that's less common as a resistance and MUCH more...

    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

Well... that's certainly not what I was expecting. Wasn't expecting them to have more than cloth armor, nor would I have ever thought that holy symbols wouldn't be implements for them... huh.

    Continuing beyond Healing Surges

Here's a fairly simple one I just thought of: If you have no healing surges any time you receive an effect that would let you spend a healing surge to heal, you instead gain Temporary Hit Points equal to 1/2 your healing surge value. Allows the party leaders to still help keep a healing...

    Playtest: The Druid (merged)

Yeah, but one (and no more than two) has to be a Beast At-Will... kinda makes sense, since you don't change any stats when you Wildshape.

    Playtest: The Druid (merged)

Well, I'll be damned. It's still both a Shapeshifter/Weather druid. And the free Animal Messenger once per day kinda has the feel of an animal companion too. Interesting to see that wildshape has no effect other than letting them use Beast powers. Of course, it seems there will be quite a few...

Wizards is giving away a free Magic: The Gathering deck

Neat. I can't complain about free stuff. :) Thanks for the link!

    Barbarian Playtest Experiences

Wha...? I have doubts that's what the power means by "1d10 + 1 for each enemy within 2 squares of you". Because, you know... that makes Great Cleave do 6[W]+6xStr+6 damage on each hit if you have 6 enemies adjacent to you when you use it... :p Edit: Ninja'd, apparently...

    Adventuers Valt Q&A

IIRC, Eladrin Soldier applies to all spears. So, yeah, that would apply to the "Greatspear" (bleck on the name!) too, unless for some reason it isn't classified as a spear :p

    Power Enhancement Feats: Paladin Powers

Interesting idea... but I really think these Power Enhancement feats work better with Encounter powers than either At-Will or Daily powers. Encounter Powers are used often enough that the feats will have a noticeable impact, and limited enough that the benefits the feats can provide can be...

    D&D 3.x 3e style multiclassing in 4e

Yes, there is a pretty big problem. 2nd level. If you multiclass using 3e-style multiclassing, you gain 2 at-wills, 1 encounter, and 1 daily power in your new class plus all your new class's class features. If you take the second level in your own class you get... a single Utility power...

Onyx Dog vs. Bag of Tricks, Gray

What if the Bag of Tricks's power was an Encounter power instead of Daily? Having to spend Healing Surges to use it would still tie it to a Daily resource and prevent it from being used too often... *shrugs* Also, don't forget that the Onyx Dog can't make Opportunity attacks, but the Bag of...

Why did the Delve give +1 to ability bonuses?

That's the reason why. It was probably written that way as short hand. Ability Scores still provide the normal 3e bonus (18 = +4, etc), but Ability Checks/Untrained Skill Checks are Ability Mod + 1/2 level. So, a untrained Ability Check with a score of 10 is a made at +1 at 2nd/3rd level. The...

    eDragon: Starlock feats and powers

Eh, I suppose that's one way to look at it. Gaining access to an uber-feat isn't how I (and likely many others too) would want to have that problem fixed, though.
