    D&D 5E (2014) What I'd Like To See Added to 5E - Weapon Comparison

Couldn't say, but I can say I have the exact opposite opinion. I would rather my characters have [weapon] where "weapon" was whatever awesome thing they felt like wielding, based solely on their own choice and what they thought was cool, and no matter what it was it did d8 damage or whatever...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me we're doing the Warlock wrong

Yeah, you and I would think that... but in our group, that's just not everyone's mindset. Recently part of the party was separated and two of them got jumped by 3 rogue-types... and they started the first round with cantrips. It did not go well. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me we're doing the Warlock wrong

Lol, no it's pretty natural, really. We're not really into "filler." If there's a cave with a couple of goblins here, 3 over there, 12 here, and 4 here - and 6 here and 9 there and 2 there and 3 there - that's just... boring. (To us.) Guards, tricky trap, boss, done. We just hit the...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me we're doing the Warlock wrong

We probably average .3 short rests per long. As in, about one in three "adventuring days" gets a short rest.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn inter-species breeding?

That's basically what I'm saying. Considering history is fine. Saying roads worked like middle age roads is fine. Using historical sexism to justify sexism in a fantasy game is not fine. Sorry I was a bit hyperbolic but I really can't stand that "justification" for sexism. (Although I guess...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn inter-species breeding?

I was saying you can't justify a sexist argument about a D&D game with "history" when it also has non-historical things like magic and dragons. In this case, D&D isn't "like history" - it's fantasy. And fantasy doesn't have anything to justify sexist arguments. Whatever you need to do, man.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D at Work!

From a mechanical perspective, this was brilliant. I had never thought of a round-robin approach to having 7-12 drop in/out people playing a "D&D" session, but the way you handled it was great and it sounds like the perfect way to run this. Also love the 100% theater-of-the-mind approach, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn inter-species breeding?

Sorry, I didn't see this post before my posts. I think this thread is already going in a direction that you are saying it shouldn't.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn inter-species breeding?

No no no no no no no no no. Rape is not, nor is it ever part of D&D. It's a part of some tables, maybe, but exactly 0% of D&D has anything to do with anything to do with that. I think several in this thread have already addressed why this is totally off-base.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn inter-species breeding?

No. It's not. As soon as someone says "magic" or "dragons" (the latter being the title of the game) they lose all ability to draw on history to justify literally anything they're talking about. NO. IT IS NOT. It is a side effect of horrible people trying to justify implacable positions...

    Waaa-waaaaah. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) more carousing options?

So, my group has gone nuts for carousing. At this point they've hit all of the options (except jailtime) and what we're discovering is the whole "40-80" range - the most common result - is boring. We need more interesting options! :) Any ideas out there? I put it to the forum! Here are...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Modifying Classes & Spell-less Rangers

The favored soul looks pretty cool, and sorcerers (and druids and rangers) have way too few options, so that is great. The ranger one is actually pretty bad. From my initial reading, it actually makes one of the weakest classes even worse. The ranger gets straight-up less effective in combat...

D&D 5E (2014) [SPOILERS] Final encounter in Tyranny of Dragons and playing a wizard for 16 levels

To be fair, it sounds like the fly spell was the most important thing that happened in the entire battle. So, assuming that was you, you actually won the battle for the team with just that one spell. And as you said, if the battle had gone sour you would have been the only reason it wasn't a...

    Mario Does D&D

I'm sorry, I didn't even notice the sheets - I meant the characters on the sheets! EXCELLENT JOB! Yeah, Luigi as a cleric is a little wonky, but you're right - it works. Toad as a rogue actually works even better, I think. But Peach and Mario are perfect - well done...

    Mario Does D&D

Ok, so on a more honest response, I have to say those character sheets are AMAZING! Did you come up with those?!? I've seen those images before, but Mario and Peach's writeups are about the most perfect D&D-ization of a character I've ever seen. I especially love that Mario took "remarkable...

When you said "it's not a cult!" I knew it was an April Fool's joke, because WotC cannot release adventure material without an evil cult in it.

D&D 5E (2014) Spell combos under Concentration economy

Our group came up with another one, similar to this. One person lays down Fog Cloud, and then the next casts Spike Growth over the same area. Was rather effective! If the battle had lasted much beyond that, Thunderwave would have been the perfect follow-up.

    D&D 5E (2014) adventure scenario by iserith

Not one. Two of the seahorses managed to "get" an egg but before they could leave the ward was back up, so I ruled that just confused them and they left without an egg. My group is definitely more about social / exploration than combat. And they are super, super clever. We played Vampire the...

    D&D 5E (2014) How to handle a shapechanging Mermaid

That's how I would have handled it. Player chooses what is absorbed and what is dropped; nothing is destroyed. Basically the best possible option. I'm kind of surprised that so many replies were far harsher than that; to me, being able to change into one specific thing that only is useful in...
