    ENWorld Spamletter

Okay, well, as a purely personal counterpoint, and as part of the userbase, let me just say - feel free to send me as many site or game-related emails as you wish, and I will just opt out of any I don't feel like seeing any more. If at any time I feel hassled by these, I know I have the option...

    To create a Drow Paladin

The OP is talking about two-hander, not dual wielding. :) Anyway, you can do just fine as a Cha paladin with a two-hander. The Str powers tend to be focused slightly more on damage, and Cha powers just a bit more on status effects, but with Divine Power there's enough variety to wield whatever...

    Avenger, the headache class?

My feeling is that the Oath of Enmity is the primary damage feature of the class (in line with Sneak Attack or Hunter's Quarry), and the Censures are things that either help you fulfill the conditions of the Oath, or compensate for you not being able to get your Oath attacks. I.e., I think it's...

    ENWorld Spamletter

Wow, I can't believe how crazy people are getting about this. In the sea of unsolicited spam emails about Viagra, your rich Nigerian benefactor, cheap watches, and Canadian drugs, one newsletter from a community you (in the general sense) chose to participate in with people you possibly care...

Mrs. Bakersfield's Homemade Preserves (an adventure)

Haha, good mini-adventure, cute premise. :)

    "Cleaner" post-DP Paladin?

I do agree that as written, it's a kludge. I probably won't change it though, for play.

    Most ridiculously overpowered game

Highest level character I've had was I think... 26? And that was a campaign that ran 10+ years off and on. Although I've sort of wanted to start a very epic campaign just to get to use some of the wacky things in the Epic Level Handbook.

    All Bard All The Time...

I'd play in this, for sure.

    Dark Sun: The Differences

Single-classed psionicists above 20th level would be hunted down and killed by an uber-psionic cabal if they did not strictly adhere to a neutral philosophy. Brutal. :) And there was the very interestingly flavored assassin-like bard class.

    Players Who Are Just Goofs

I was playing a character in a fairly long lasting Spelljammer campaign. So the party was on a ship which belonged to another PC. Being something of an arrogant know-it-all, my dude was obnoxiously huffing and puffing at the other PCs for taking the ship through an awful battle zone, calling...

    Couple of rules questions

I don't know about the DM in the OP, but I for one wasn't trying to exploit anything. That's just how I read the rules. I'm probably as far from the "DM vs. Player" type of DM as you could get, in general.

Do you actually CARE about your PC?

I'm pretty much the opposite. In fact, I don't really have fun in a D&D game until I've played it enough to get really invested in my character's development. Even if in reality the game may only last for a few months, I want to at least have the illusion of long-lasting continuity. I take...

How is Old School not at least related to nostalgia?

Why can't a "real taste," especially when it's an activity purely based around fun, be based on emotionality? Why does it have to be rational? I wouldn't hesitate to label my desire to play OD&D as partly based on nostalgia, and desire to play 4e as partly based on new-and-shininess, and would...

    Couple of rules questions

In 4e, there is no "front part" or "back part." There is only "ogre." Has it left that adjacent space? I'd say no.

    Couple of rules questions

"If an enemy leaves a square adjacent to you, you can make an opportunity attack against that enemy." Enemy = Ogre. Does "One part of the ogre" = "Ogre?" You could make a case that the ogre as a whole has not left any square adjacent to you, and thus provokes no OA. In fact, that's the way I'll...

    Sacred Cows for any edition

I have no sacred cows for D&D. I really don't care if the next incarnation of D&D is a Super-Soaker Playground Simulation, or if it keeps strictly to levels / classes / hit points / AC / Vancian whatever. If I like the game, and have friends willing to try it out, I'll play it, regardless of...

    It's Dark Sun

It makes you sad that people like themes in a D&D campaign other than the ones you do?

    It's Dark Sun

What? This is incorrect. There was no "kill yourself." There was a "draw magic from things around you slowly and carefully so as not to harm them," which was what Preserver was, which was exactly equal to a standard wizard in D&D.

    Avenger Multiclass Feats

The first feat is already more powerful than the standard Ranger and Rogue MC feats. The second feat is just absurd.
