D&D Online To Go Free This Summer

Heck, they've still got Asheron's Call going, which started in the late '90s.

    Higher than level 30?

WotC needs to fix some of the awfully broken level 30 capstone abilities of Epic Destinies, and the players need to get out of the "It's level 30, who cares if it's broken?" mentality before there can be any meaningful gaming at 30+.

    Games you won't play

    Exactly this, for me.

Planescape was Handholding. Forked from Plane Next Door/

I loved Planescape (I have nearly every supplement) but I'm perfectly fine with 4e cosmology as well. You can have a good game in one, as well as the other. The preferences for each are so subjective that I can't see this debate going anywhere but general sniping of other posters.

    What's so special about Dragonlance?

Great setting for stories, but perhaps not for a game of D&D.

Student of Backstabbiness - Curse those rogues!

Do you find it difficult to get CA as a rogue? Having both DMed and played them, getting near-constant CA as a rogue does not seem all that difficult.

Will WotC ever get it right?

So many powers do other things besides damage, that doing such a spreadsheet wouldn't be all that useful for comparing most powers. Area varies, range varies, many many riders vary. I think they're doing a fairly decent job of keeping the powers ordered thusfar. However, I do agree with you on...

    "per attack"

It's four attacks. The "Secondary Target/Attack" grouping is indented under the "Primary Target/Attack" grouping, indicating that the secondary attack is a consequence of each primary attack. It helps if you read the powers as If/Then statements. This was also supported by a post by a designer...

    Footwork Lure and Passing Attack

"You can shift 1 square and slide the target into the space you left." "The space you left" can be two squares away from the target if you are using a reach weapon to hit it, therefore it certainly does appear that you can shift your enemy two squares if you have a reach weapon. There are some...

    tempest dance

Because "Secondary Target: same or a different target" is a specific targeting condition, I would assume that unless the power has that clause, that they cannot be used on the same target. EDIT: Oops. "Secondary Target: One creature other than the primary target" is also a specified condition...

    How Balanced is Dragon/Dungeon Material

All the books are relatively balanced, except just a couple things each that can break the game wide open. All you have to do is keep an eye out for those things and rein them in. Same goes for Dragon.

RPGshop.com sells "precision" dice; but are they Gamescience brand?

I agree. Players are not likely to notice any difference in distribution between any gaming dice for table-top RPG purposes. You can set up a chi-square test for your dice if you're really worried, but most likely your Chessex / D&D Basic Set / Cheap Off-brand / whatever dice are just as good as...

Reserve Training, better than Novice Power when Multiclassing?

Since I believe this falls under the "You can take each power only once" rule, no, I don't think you can choose the same power for dilettante and pact initiate. I'm curious how you would define "powers you know." I define it as gaining the use of it through any intrinsic character means...

Reserve Training, better than Novice Power when Multiclassing?

No, it's no loophole. The general rule is "You can take each power only once" (PHB p.27). There's nothing in the feat's description or the retraining rules to contradict this. In essence, in your quoted post, "Right there and then, he could decide to retrain his normal level 7 choice to also be...

Reserve Training, better than Novice Power when Multiclassing?

Can't do that. Feat text says "The power must be your level or lower and one that you don’t already have."

Reserve Training, better than Novice Power when Multiclassing?

It's also good for getting rid of a crappy PP encounter power, in favor of another of your base class's powers, as the power you swap TO has the class restriction, but the power you are swapping FROM has no such restriction.

Was V's act evil? (Probable spoilers!)

There are are almost as many definitions of "D&D Morality" as D&D players, so this is not an easy one to answer. Heck, even for myself it could be evil OR good, depending on what style of campaign I was running.
